All the gas/electricity on the block was off, when I told him I had kids asleep in the basement he grabbed his flashlight from his car and came with me downstairs to get them. I think he moved from Thompson shortly after we did (Feb 2006), I don't think he lives there anymore.

A true example of how a police officer should behave, all credit to him.

Yes they did move out shortly after that! I also lived across the street from them! It was a very cold night that night! We didn't have to leave our house and thank goodness because my kids were asleep and didn't want to wake them but it took quite a while before power came back on! LOL My hubby was working the PD part of blocking off traffic and stuff, and kept coming in to make sure everything was ok!

I could not have said it better. From the time that my girls were 4 and 6, I made a point of always introducing them to the local Law Enforcement Center. People do not realize that the police are 24/7, put their lives on the line for us. Police are not feared by citizens, unless they commit a crime. My view of the DCLE, is very high. We watched them in three different crimes as it occurred: (1) a drug bust next door to us; (2) Searching for gun that a person had, outside across the street, and they found the weapon; and (3) a search warrant for the next door neighbor resulting in the confiscation of a rifle, as well as arresting three people for attempted murder. The professionalism, yielded two weapons no longer in possession of those who would use them to harm others. Both my daughter and I thanked the officers involved. We now have a nice quite (though vacant) duplex. We no longer feel threatened by those who had lived there. They did a fine job. Parents, teach your children that if they have a problem, that it is both wise and necessary to let them know that it is safe to talk to them and that police will help them out. If they fear the police, then who can they trust?
