Thanks for all the welcome comments...I've been reading this site for quite awhile...enjoy most of the stuff I've read...

As for the "allegations" they aren't allegations at all...I happen to know from very reliable sources those things are true! It all really doesn't matter now though...Harris is history and I believe a Blackjack dealer up at one of the casinos! Yes, shredding files I believe should have been reported, but I think the office and the county was so glad to get rid of him they let things go...all the accident reports and tickets and such are sent to Topeka via database on server controlled from Topeka...so just the hard copies of that stuff was lost, but there were alot of things gone that shouldn't have been, that's for sure!

I just hope that office can now get back on its feet and gain some respect back...they seize so much drug money up on Highway 54 and want to do so much, but are limited because they haven't had the strong leadership in that office and no support from the community. They need a new jail and sheriff's office, there is a group that wants to get a juvenile placement/detention going...but without a sheriff the county believes in over seeing all of that, it's impossible to get any support for those things!
    Good Luck Clark County!

At least maybe the money will go for something good now instead of fancy vehicles that aren't needed!

I guess they need vehicles but I would have loved to see Bates on a Donkey in downtown Ashland!

That would have been funny, however I'm still trying to figure out why a brand new Durango and Tahoe were needed. Why not the standard Crown Vics or trucks like the SO has?

With the "exreme rural" setting that clark county is I can see the use of vehicles like a durango and tahoe, what i never understand is why are LEO's allowed to use personal vehicles for county business. I would think it would be extremely hard to "settle" an insurance claim if anything happened.

I can see your point there, I guess a good 4x4 may be needed for muddy roads however, why should they be allowed to use county vehicles as their personal vehicles? I guess though small county possibly gets away with more than a larger county would.

It is all a matter what the county insurance said.

I have known some small cities and counties that the officer / deputy, had to use a POV. But if Clark COunty was rolling some new Durangos or Jeeps, thay had it nice!

I took Lowflight's comments to mean that the LEO's were allowed to use personal vehicles for county business, not the other way around. But he's right - the insurance claim would be a nasty one to settle. Good Lord!
