It's possible to realize a profit in every situation.

Translation: There's a sucker born every minute. :D
The problem with the financial crisis is....
none of the people working on it have a financial crisis.

I don't need to say this more than 1 time

I think this story is disgusting. She should have called 9-1-1 immediately. It seems so many of our nation's citizens are indifferent to crime until they become of the victims of a crime.

If I saw someone trying to break into a car, I'd call 9-1-1. If I saw a cop in trouble, I'd call 9-1-1. Sure, I'd video tape the incident. But only after calling 9-1-1.

It's like no one cares for anyone but themselves.

There was an interesting piece on the news last night up here. The news crew left a car with the trunk open and filled with holiday packages, then hid to videotape. It took a few people to walk by before two women actually stopped and waited for a couple of minutes for the owner, then shut the trunk.

In another area of the same parking lot, there was a car with the windows down, a purse on the seat. There were two thugs that drove up beside it, both got out and cased the car, then one got back in their car and started it up again. The other grabbed the purse and got in the passenger seat of their car and went through the purse. After they either found (or didn't find) what they were looking for, they tossed the purse back in the open car and left. So the news crew stuck around for the owner, who came back and was ANGRY that her purse had been messed with. IT WAS A MALL PARKING LOT!!! In the best of worlds, we should be able to leave our valuables anywhere without expecting them to be bothered, but let's get honest - there are a lot of people out of jobs and need whatever they can find to support their family - and there are some who just do this crap so they don't have to find work. I was just amazed. Tis the season!

Without question, I would step in and assist the officer....have done so before and would do again...

I watched that too KC and the gall of some people. I remember the count of vehicle burglaries they tallied after airing the story. Not too surprising about the number of vehicle burglaries at the plaza though. Go a few blocks in either direction and you're in some bad areas.

Yep Bugsy, we did - many times in fact. Now, I'm too damn old and out of shape to be chasing anyone down. If they'll promise to stand still, I'd do better

Recently I learned of something called The Bystander effect. Basically when a crime is being commited the larger the group the less likely that the victim would get help or call 911. Everyone assumes someone else would help and no one does. Unfortunately maybe that is what happened...the woman video taping assumed someone else would step in and help or make the call.

Google Kitty Genovese to learn how bad this scenario is.
