Yea right on some parts. How long before Dodge get a stripe club, more pawn shops? Sure it is going to help bring ppl to Dodge. But come on ppl open your eyes. I think it is a good thing for Dodge but got to think what comes with it. The state will provide security officers, who I believe will carry guns. Yea at the casino, but what about the rest of the area?

What is wrong with a strip club? I personally see them as just adding to my frustration and a waste of my dollar bills, but others would certainly spend their money there. Advertising and external signs need to be decent and they had better keep minors out of there but otherwise it is something for people in Dodge to do and something for people from the area to come to Dodge and spend their money on. We can't shelter ourselves from the real world forever.

How much drugs are there in Dodge City right now. Now think about adding to that with stuff that is coming.

Don't get me wrong I am glad Dodge is getting this casino. I am tired of seeing Garden City get it all and Dodge has to set and watch. So I hope this is a goodthing and not a bad thing for the people of Dodge. I just wanted people to think about what might happen. Thanks

There will be a lot of security that comes with the casino. The state will provide security officers, who I believe will carry guns. The casino will also provide security officers, who I believe will not carry guns. I am not sure I am remembering that right.

I agree with Bubba. I think that we will have some folks moving into town that are going to me making some good incomes. I also think that we will have visitors that will spend money. I do think that there will be negative consequences. All indications are that you have an increase in the number of people that develop gambling addictions, bad checks, more foreclosures and more suicides. I don't see it as a problem site but other side issues that the community needs to be ready to deal with.

When the visitors and the locals spend their money in the casino that will bring the tax dollars into Dodge City which could be used to bring more officers here if needed. But, the biggest help would get the citizens in Dodge City to get outraged enough to get the city commission to change the priorities for the PD. Start doing more things to weed out the lawbreakers, like doing insurance checkpoints like Garden City does. Like admitting our gang problem is getting out of hand and we need to take a proactive approach instead of a reactive approach, etc, etc.

If by stripe club, you mean a strip club or gentleman's club. That could be a good thing too. Keep dollars at home instead of having to travel to Great Bend, Wichita, Colorado Springs or Denver for that type of entertainment. More pawn shops might also be good, it could bring prices down at the pawn shops we already have. If you are implying that pawn shops aren't a reputable business, I am sure that the owners of the pawn shops that are in our area now really appreciate THAT point of view!

Never said that about pawn shops, because you go to any town that has a military base right there pawn shop after pawn shop. So NO pawn shops are not that bad of business.

I am glad that the strip clubs have not made it to Dodge City. They create an environment where young women are exploited and encourages human trafficking. I think that is probably some money that this community can decided that we just don't want.

In listening to people like Jeff Thorpe talk it seems their goal is to create a environment where people can enjoy the entertainment of gambling that encourages people with a greater amount of discretionary income to spend their time. If we allow the community to have to many of the "seedy" by products, those people will go find someplace else to spend their money.
