Just wonderin' since i'm new to the site, and reading a few old threads there are a few, right? Well anyway do they let members know what's going on? I mean this recent uproar in violence just makes me feel uneasy.....:(

I think lots of towns are like that. In the media's defense - they can only report what they are told. It's not like Dodge has an "investigative" reporter. If you want a relationship with the PD and you are a reporter - you really have to respect their investigations and not leak out things that might help convict those creeps that are ravaging your town with violence. Papers have also been used to "plant" info during an ongoing investigation. Most of that sort of "weeding out the truth" stuff is reserved for courtrooms as far as I'm concerned. After all - ya gotta have a non biased jury pool or you would never get a court date once you are caught.
On the other hand - cops are not going to give anything out on a forum other than "talking points" which is what you are going to read in the paper. A paper has to consider the legality issues as well. People are "sue happy".
I think there are a couple of cops on here and they post now and again. There is a retired cop that I know of and some that used to be cops but went into other business.
Most of the reports of activities on here have proven to pan out to be true but overall - this is a public forum with lots of opinions. Take it for what it is. Then you have those cops that come on here tell you they are someone else - for all I know this could be full of cops with alter egos.
Either way - it's a great place to be!! Enjoy what you read, participate, and hey if you want to be a cop on here - go for it!!!;)
Welcome to the forum and post often!!!!
In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.

Just wait, what is going to go on when that casino opens up. Is Dodge ready for what is to come with it? I think it is good for Dodge but also bad. I think we (Dodge) is going to get more people who knows why they came to Dodge. Not all are going to be bad but I don't think it is going to be good for the PD.
quote=spike52;111534]FYI..
For being such a small town, Dodge has been abnormally violent for years.
Murders, rapes, shootings...
Dodge has it all.
But for whatever reason, the media fails report it...[/quote]
I think the casino will actually help by bringing in a better class of people.
Politicians are like diapers, they both need changed occasionally for the same reason.
Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist"
The hard work of one will do more than the prayer of millions.
All great religions, in order to escape absurdity, have to admit a dilution of agnosticism. It is only the savage, whether of the African bush or the American gospel tent, who pretends to know the will and intent of God exactly and completely.

There will be a lot of security that comes with the casino. The state will provide security officers, who I believe will carry guns. The casino will also provide security officers, who I believe will not carry guns. I am not sure I am remembering that right.
I agree with Bubba. I think that we will have some folks moving into town that are going to me making some good incomes. I also think that we will have visitors that will spend money. I do think that there will be negative consequences. All indications are that you have an increase in the number of people that develop gambling addictions, bad checks, more foreclosures and more suicides. I don't see it as a problem site but other side issues that the community needs to be ready to deal with.
I definitely think it will be an improvement over the people we are attracting right now.

Yea right on some parts. How long before Dodge get a stripe club, more pawn shops? Sure it is going to help bring ppl to Dodge. But come on ppl open your eyes. I think it is a good thing for Dodge but got to think what comes with it. The state will provide security officers, who I believe will carry guns. Yea at the casino, but what about the rest of the area?
