| If you live in the city there are ordancies..... the country is another thing. It also depends IF the city has ordiances. IF not I bet the only thing that could be done is a civil suit. They don't take the dogs unless they attack a person. That's when they impound - to check for rabies. I think there are requirements for vaccination tho wether they are in town or out. Those requirements might be state or perhaps county - due to public health. I think leash laws are only in town. Otherwise I think it's like the old west........ ya just shoot em. That's what our folks do that live in the "country"

| So we can more or less just say HEY ALL YOU PIT BULL/ROT etc. OWNERS YOU CAN LET YOUR DOGS RUN FREE AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU NO LAW SUIT NO NOTHING. I remember that big huge write up in the newspaper about the law on Bull/Rots etc. and I don't care it is still in Ford County so something needs to be done. Because if they will not do anything to this person and the dogs then they shouldn't do anything to anyone in this same situation. How can they make someone else get rid of their dogs and not this person is this law not for everyone? I guess they think a little helpless old dog isn't worth doing a report over. My friend knows the family and that little girl is tore up she loved that dog as if it was her sibling. I hope they do something for the sake of all dog lovers and owners. The dogs shoulder blades was pulled apart and the head was almost detached from his body is what my friend told me, what if it would of been a child? I will stand behind that little girl and her family even though I don't know them because I am a true dog lover and I believe in the law and I abide by the law when it comes to my dogs and if I have to so should those people that had the Bull/Rots doesn't matter where they work or who they work for. I hope that lady at least pays the bill, the family for pain and suffering and told them she was sorry that would mean a lot to the family I am sure. |

| Smart doG owners let their personal liability insurance carrier be their guide. A civil suit is in order... Not much... mayhaps 3 to 5 K will be enough to wound the doG owner without forcing him into bankruptcy. Who knows, he may qualify for city council then.

| Family pet mauled to death in bucklin I grew up outside of a "country" town an hour outside of Dodge and Bucklin. My parents raised me to understand that if your dog caused trouble, such as killing sheep, or the neighbor's dog, you, as the dog's owner, would be the one to take your tail-wagging buddy for a long walk and dispense country justice. No need for any law to get involved. It was called responsibility. That was a long time ago and doesn't seem to apply anymore. More's the pity. |
