my ride down commanche

Monday evening i was comming back from salina, it was about 6:30 i turned off hwy 50 to the airport road, and then turned again at the intersection that turns in to commanche.
i was going down the hills, going about 50mph, i wasnt sure what the speed limit was. and out of nowhere i saw this white honda come flying up behind me (he had to be going 80mph) all the sudden he was right on my bumper, like really close, i bet if i had a ruler, i bet there was maybe 6 inches from him to me. i got to the stop sign, stoped and looked in my rear view mirror to see if it could of been someone i knew playing with me, i didnt know him... i was surprised that he wasnt a young kid, he must of been at least 35 to 40 years old, if not older. i went through the stop sign, going 40mph, and he was right on my bumper(i probally should of hit my brakes) when we got to the bottom of the hill, by the golf course he passed me, and when he did, he gave ME the finger.... that made me really mad, so then i followed him, and i called my husband to tell him to write the tag # down, i followed him all the way down commanche when we got close to dillions there was a car in front of him, and he was right on their bumper, it looked like he was acually touching their bumper, they quickly went in to a turning lane to get out of the way, he had to stop at the stop lite at 14th i was right behind him, and he put his car in REVERSE! i didnt budge, he didnt hit me though just trying to scare me i guess.
we went past the stop light went down a ways and he turned in to the back way to wal mart, then he veered left and took off like a bat out of hell and went around the backside of the building well, i didnt want to follow him back there, so i went around the front , i saw him he pulled in to the tire place and when i went past there, he had this huge spot light he used on me. i went home and i called wal mart, i thought he worked there, i just asked if they had someone that worked there that had a white honda accord, the girl said no.... there is one getting worked on though, his name is charlie something??(i could not understand the last name, nor could i belive she gave it to me) but any way if i would have called the police about this could they, or would they of done something about his careless driving, with out them seeing it for their selves??im not a road rager, i just dont appreciate getting flipped off.

It's my understanding that the cops have to actually see this kind of thing to do anything about it.

If they were good cops they would have come out and talked to the guy but then you have to get involved and give your name and all.

If you'd have called while he was still driving and reported it they might have had an officer in the area who could have intercepted it and caught him in the act.

But then again it sounds like you might have been breakinga few laws yourself by keeping up with him so you might noght have wanted to do that.

Bad situation all around.

This kinda stuff happens more than you might think - especially in the metro where the 16-year-olds think the freeway was built just for them. In the mornings, speeds average around 45, sometimes as slow as less than 5, sometimes you can sail at 65 or 70. Then there's a little red car, or a white mini-car that comes out of nowhere and almost runs you off the road trying to get ahead. It always pleases me to no end to stop beside them in traffic. I'm afraid to wave or smile, cuz you don't know who's packin' up here. The thing is, whether it's a youngster behind the wheel or an adult, they make the highway dangerous for everybody and there's gonna be that one car they just can't miss and it's gonna be full of little ones. We'll all say it's a tragedy, but somebunny will know it could have been avoided.

I don't know what they will do, but google says that the number goes to Linda Smith @ the Ford Co. Communications Center.
