| I saw it on TV yesterday, what I saw reported was that most of the kids walked out of school in support of the teacher.

| I didn't hear that today....... course it's a call in show and it's conservative based or biased.......LOL........ but I can see that everyone has supporters somewhere...... Personally I think they should have been considered truant and taken to task for "walking out of school" over something that should be between the teacher and the school board. Let them protest after school but any walk out should be detention time........... Obviously his class was upset enough at his rantings that they taped it........

| High school students? um... something tells me this was probably instigated by the parents not the students. Nothing worse than parents playing politics through their kids.

| G’morning Detector. On the protest I don’t think high school kids need any urging from parents or even any deep convictions on an issue to find an excuse to cut class. With the student that taped the lecture (rant) it sounds like the parent was involved with exposing the teacher’s classroom behavior. But hasn’t it been a constant complaint of teachers that parents don’t get involved? Bonus question: Which side of the political spectrum are the teachers unions on and which side opposes things like school vouchers that would allow parents more choice in where to send the kids to school?

| Good point HWY. Geography class in NOT where some teacher should advance his warped political agenda. Kids are having liberalism shoved down their throats repeatedly at school. Some of those kids that walked out probably doesn't know the difference between a Republican and a Terrorist...I mean Liberal.

| The teacher made his state and federal paid for platfrom into a political stand.......... he choose not to teach the subject he was being paid to teach. The fact that his mouth spewed democratic propoganda is not the issue here - but ike most of those that spew forthe he didn't give a second thought to the fact he was an adult trying to docrinate a child to his way of thinking............. he otta be made to work the library where he has to keep his thoughts to himself.............. maybe he could actually read up on "democracy" while he is there.........

| More free speech From a recent Denver Post follow up story: Near the end of the recording, he (the teacher in question. Bennish) told the students, "You have to figure this stuff out for yourselves...I'm not in any way implying that you should agree with me... What I'm trying to get you to do is think about these issues more in depth and not just to take things from the surface." He also commended students who challenge him, saying, "I'm glad you asked all of your questions because they're all very good, legimate questions." |
