I think his song made people more aware of a situation. If you were to write an article to your local paper, providing facts you may turn a couple heads and those people might say "hey, tex sure does have something goin there. Maybe somethin is wrong." Then those folks might go out and get something done. Enough pressure will make people look at something. I believe that is what dylan was trying to accomplish. "Hey folks, look at this guy in Jersey, he's innocent but he's in jail." People across the nation open their eyes a little and might see the problem.

but once again...that's up to you if you believe it. There are some who will want to check the facts and see how things line up, and there are those who will say, bob is full of shit.

A president isn't open to scrutiny? He is above that? His presidency, to me, seems a little tainted. To you, he may be a golden boy, but i see some things that he has done to be wrong. Young sees some things as well and calls him on it.

Once again these stars aren't making decisions for you. If you vote on the basis of who you believe and not what you believe you are doing a great disjustice to the U.S.A. Like someone else said, a politician will spit in your face and tell you it's raining. Just because Ted Kennedy, John McCain, Hillary Clinton, or President Bush says something doesnt mean I believe what they are saying and say "ya that's what I'm gonna believe cause he/she does."

You don't need a high school diploma to see that something is wrong. An innocent man behind bars is not something that a diploma will help. I'm not saying that all the artists are right when they say somthing (tom cruise). I choose to take some, and pass on others.

When an artist decides to speak out against something or for something they are setting themselves up for a fall. There will be fans of theirs who will get angry with what they say and seperate themselves from the artist. Look at the falling out the dixie chicks had. They damn near ruined their career. Why do the stars get their word out over others you ask? Cause money talks. Whether you're a politician or an actor, money talks.

bad place to end, but i will.

Well - I have to tell ya Drifter........... you have just "drifted" off the subject all together to me. I don't think Dylan has anything to do with Young's song. I think Young's song is just his opinion to make him money cause it's maybe the way he thinks OR........... maybe he knows that hopefully 68% of the country might pay him to listen to his whiney voice.............. truth is who the hell cares?

You can give Dylan all the atta boys ya want.......... it wasn't his singin degree that got Carter off death row. Trust me Dylan probably wrote more "of concious" songs than Young could ever come up with. I happen to like Dylan......... he's just not the attorney that got him off. Carter had appeals goin long before Dylan came along. Justice is blind - I don't think Dylan made justice happen. I think the regular appeals process did. Perhaps Dylan got him a better attorney. I think Dylan made enough money off the song to pay for his attorney..........

All I'm sayin is Dylan is more like Guthrie........... ya know Arlo's DAD - Woodie????............ Those were folk writers that wrote of injustice during injust times............. Young just ain't "all that" to me............ How bout we agree to disagree.............. neither one of us is gonna convince the other - I can live with that........ I won't lose no sleep - I promise!!.......... I also promise you will never convince me Young is worth all this time and effort either............. he's whinney.............

Ya don't have to be smart to be able to vote............ but I certainly sat in enough history and govt classes to know not to let someone I don't respect sway my vote one way or the other. They might be smarter in music....... but hey - when they are sick........ they are lookin for the likes of me........ I can't think of a time I would ever look to listen to the likes of him............again - JMHO...........
