I heard a really good solution to the illegal problem.

We make every illegal enlist in the military to pay for the act of illegally crossing the border. Once they are all in the military we go to war with Mexico and deploy them in that war. Also, following the current administrations policy, we go to that war with no exit strategy!

It looks like King George may be moving troops to the border. This CAn be a good thing but could be a double edged sword. How does everyone on here feel about it. I wonder what their role will be. I'm sure they will be unarmed. Last thing we need is some cowboy weekend warrior getting trigger happy with a bunch of women and children coming across the border. This will make King George's ratings go up some. The Dems will use this against him and call him racist...hopefully. Mainstream America wants this and I think it will make the Dems look weak.

I feel that it's diluting the military too much to fight two wars. And if we make them serve unarmed, then what's the point?

The military should only be used as a temporary band-aid. The regular Border Patrol needs to be expanded with more personal to take over and replace military personal. After the flap about leaking information to the Mexican government a good shake-up housecleaning in supervision is in order.

I don’t agree in sending the Guard, or anyone for that matter, to the border unarmed. There are too many confrontations with drug runners, armed paramilitary groups and Mexican military. If the Guard needs a crash course in knowing their targets give it to them. And yes, I do remember that ugly incident that happened a few years back. Putting thousands of guys in harms way without the means to defend themselves because one guy screwed up isn’t acceptable to me.

I support a wall. It can be brick and mortar, fence, electronic surveillance, manual surveillance, or any combination that works. We have folks in the Border Patrol that can provide better ideas on what is really needed than us armchair generals and the politically correctness whipped congress critters.

We need to crack down on the employers that hire illegals and cut off the social program handouts to reduce the incentive to be here. Improvements in document fraud detection are in order to help with that and it would help with the growing crime of ID theft by our own criminal citizens as well.

It’s not feasible to just go out and round up 12 million illegal folks. But we can arrest and deport whenever one shows up. Anytime there is some run-in with police like a traffic stop, public disturbance or other criminal investigation put them on the next bus south. We’ll never get them all but at least the ones we miss won’t be giving us grief.

Well I feel like most countries use thier military anyway for border patrol. Look at the south america counties......... all military.

Our weekend warriors are very well trained historically at Ft Hell in Texas - ARNG guys spanked RA guys during manuevers on a regualr basis. So I think for Texas our guard may be better trained than most....... plus we probably got a much higher rate of espanole speakin than ya'll do. I think it's a great plan. Problem is usually they don't use guard from the state with the issue. They pull guard from everywhere like in Lousianna......... course this also ain't considered a FEMA event. It will be interesting to see what actually is the "plan".

My concern is the plan was devised with Carl Rove......... what the hell is that? Folks talkin security for the country with a chief of staff????......... Is that a "political" statement or what............ I love George....... but he's startin to worry me........... he's doin some texas 2 steppin i'm afraid......... I think his intent is good but his mouthpiece is questionable........
