Guns and Identity Theft

I’ve brought this up before but it doesn’t hurt to bring it up again. Remember you don’t have to be a gun owner to be a victim.

by Jennifer Freeman

Massive, uncontrolled illegal immigration combined with a disappearing border and the diminishing use of the English language in the United States spells obvious doom for American sovereignty and with that the recognition of our inherent rights as citizens. Personal firearm ownership is a cornerstone of American citizenship and a highly prized right. The loss of our sovereignty would likely lead to the loss of private firearm ownership and eventually to governmental tyranny.

A more immediate issue that has yet to be addressed is the possibility of someone stealing your identity to purchase a firearm and then committing a crime with that firearm. Perhaps the firearm is recovered and tracked back to you (the real you) causing the police to arrest you. Or perhaps your imposter is arrested, convicted, and jailed under your name causing you to have a felony on your record making it illegal for you to ever own a firearm. Another scenario would be if your imposter was arrested and/or convicted and fled from police causing someone with your identity to become an escaped felon.

While there is an element to these scenarios that sounds just outlandish enough to make for an interesting action movie, all of the ingredients for a real-life nightmare are already in play in our society. And you can count on the government to do nothing until the scenario has been played out to such an extent that irrevocable damage has been done. Reaction to disaster, rather than a well-thought out plan for prevention is a characteristic trademark of many governments today.

If such a scenario should occur once, it will likely occur multiple times. Anti-gun operatives will spring into action to further their agenda items including the Real ID Act, mandatory RFID chips implanted in people, and all-out gun bans. The liberal-biased media, the anti-gun teachers unions, and far-left Hollywood actors will react with feigned compassion to create the illusion that further restrictions on our rights is our only hope to prevent crime. In fact, the solution to greatly minimize further identity theft and other associated crimes exists right now.

Non-citizens who commit crimes should be convicted and deported. Non-citizens who commit a crime to obtain a firearm should be convicted and deported. Identity theft is a felony and should be enforced without exception to people who enter this country illegally.

Enacting these solutions would require the government to restore its traditional role as servant to its citizens. Recognizing the value of citizenship is at the very heart of liberty and is necessary for liberty to sustain. Gun ownership is a hallmark of American liberty.
