Gee you think they read all that?

Anyone can type out a long narrative but if you don't go put a face to it then I bet they just delete it.

Public speaking skills are so VERY important.

Maybe next time Bubba...

Maybe next time.

I on the other hand say - way to go Bubba!! You in the past have been the one to address issues with ease just with an email. As evidenced by your letters you posted a couple of times here. I believe you were the one sending bricks - I believe there was an AP picture and it made the national news of all the bricks legilators were getting. None of the bricks had a face......... don't worry bout "next time" You wrote a good letter and made valid points. I don't believe anyone is just going to "delete" your opinion. Good job Bubba!! Even a tree in an empty forest makes a noise........ just cause wordie didn't hear it don't mean it didn't fall.............

It took me a little over three minutes to read it out loud to myself, and I'm not a speed reader, so I don't think that "all that" was that much.

That is their prerogative, but I would hope that an elected official could take 3-4 minutes out of their day to hear what a citizen who they are supposed to represent thinks.

I agree, and I was fully prepared to do what I felt needed to be done, but since I got sick that afternoon, I felt that an email was better than doing nothing. At least with an email I have a chance that they might read what I had on my mind.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Thank you. Also, thanks for remembering about the brick that I sent.

I think it would have made a more impactful statement if you'd have gone even if you were sick.

Of course if you were hacking and coughing it wouldn't have helped much.

The point is if you aren't there in person to put a name and a face to it then it's just REALLY easy to dismiss you.

Indeed it would have made an impression nobody would soon forget.

But it sounds like there were more than enough people there to espouse their opinions.

Wow Bubba, that sounds like food poisioning. Where did you eat?

Anywhoo, great work. Don't worry about wordy's opinion of how to get an impact.... It's understandable how he could come up with the thought: "The point is: if you aren't there in person to put a name and a face to it, then it's just REALLY easy to dismiss you."

Sometimes a city's "committee" is smarter than their Board.
From The Hutchinson News, Hutchinson Kansas
Quote:
Great Bend committee nixes smoking ban

GREAT BEND - The administrative committee of the Great Bend City Council voted 3-1 against a request that the city consider a smoking ban, and it will recommend to the council that a ban not be imposed.

An open forum meeting on Monday to discuss the issue brought out a crowd of about 30 people, council member Don Humphreys said.

"The sentiment seemed to be that the city should not pass a ban on private businesses; most public buildings already have bans," he said.

The full council is expected to vote on the issue at the Nov. 6 council meeting.
