I'd say he's detecting his own BS.

My general MO is to read stuff even if I don't think I'll agree with it so I can judge it in its entirety before dismissing it.

Anti-smokers destroying small business.

Re: Those who say we all should get a choice of whether to spend money in a bar or restaurant that does or does not allow smoking - Just curious but the next time I'm in DC what bar(s) can I spend my money in that does NOT allow smoking. 'Cause I want a choice, too.

Since you are in Colorado - probably need to go to a bar there if you are looking for a non smoking bar. If you are looking for a choice in bars, businesses, etc when it comes to smoking VS non smoking. My suggestion is to go into the bar business - then since it's your money on the line you can make the choice. You can set your non smoking bar up next to a smoking bar and see which one is more successful. It's a bar! You can choose to not frequent a bar and have all the drinks ya want in the hotel lobby or your non smoking room. The majority of folks that frequent bars are ususally smokers. So to me - the smokers make the bar what it is. Kick out the smokers and what ya got??? Starbucks at a Barnes & Noble. Dodge don't have one of those so good luck!! I think lots of up scale resturants that have bars could help ya out but then Dodge don't have lots of those either.

Better drink before ya get to Dodge!!

I don't know, but if there isn't one, maybe you could make your (mis)fortune by opening one up.

That’s kind of the whole point. If there is really the demand that non-smokers claim there is a non-smoking establishment should flourish. Smokers are something like 20% of the population now so it should be a winning deal without making it a law.

Well there ya go Bob! I don't know if they serve mixed drinks but I think they serve beer with some pretty good food as far as I remember from the one time I went to one - years ago.

Anti-smokers destroying small business.

My only choice is Montana Mike's? Good Gawd Amightee. I'm talking a bar here not some fern-infested sterile non-joint that thinks a "drink" is some colorful fu-fu with an umbrella in it! I mean a shot and a beer joint. A dive with a tatooed waitress with high hair and low morals, sans the smoke. Ah, a former smoker can only dream, I guess.
Highway did raise my point. However I think it's a Catch-22: Bar owners don't want to lose any business to the smokers, so they'll never know if a non-smoking bar would work. Maybe a smokeless night once in a while to test the waters, although the smell would still be there. More's the pity, but that's the marketplace now and I wish the government would stay the hell out of it.
I'll be passing through Dodge in a couple of weeks and would love it if Uncle Lurker would buy me a watered-down sugar doused over-priced fu-fu at MMs.
Cough!
