| As I think about this stuff and wonder if it's true...I think about the things here in the community that should be happening. Instead of HIDING what's going on why doesn't the police force along with our esteemed newspaper EDUCATE the public and back NEIGHBORHOOD watch programs. If this stuff is going on and the average Dodge Citian doesn't know about it then it's a travesty. As said before vigilance MAY save a life at some point. This is unbelievable....and ONE MORE REASON TO NOT LIVE IN THIS PATHETIC, JACKED UP TOWN.....people wonder why a house sits on the market for months and months......why no one wants to move here except criminals....why no business's will move here....add to that the semi-poison water and the failing education system and you got yourself one doozie of a town......Hooorah

| One more reason to have Concealed Carry! Women need to be taking these courses too and start packing heat. I would love to see some women shoot the balls off of a "would-be" rapist.

| Dodge City will always be home to me, however the best thing I ever did is move from there. Everytime I read the news on this board reminds me even more how blessed I am that I finally got the hell out of Dodge. I am so amazed how much is really kept quiet. The public needs to know that there is danger. I feel for you all.

I can say that each case is handled on an individual basis and if certain questions were asked in one case or the use of a lie detector was used in another, there was a reason for it, and not people just grasping at straws. My problem or question is the use of the wording that 7 rapes had occurred in the last seven days. Are they all documented? Were the victims all fothcoming and cooperative in reporting the crime? Rape can also be many different things, like non-consentual sex, drugs or alcohol usage before sex and not being able to say yes or no, the traditional idea of rape....etc.... And of course, I do agree, if there is one rape a week in Dodge, it is one too many. Women (and men for that matter) need to protect themselves from these situations. Concealed carry hand guns tho, I think, is not for everyone... |

| In my mind I don’t care if it was 7 or 4 or even just one. Every rape is one too many. Our society hasn’t always treated the problem as seriously as it should. Society trained women to be victims. I remember when women were told to lay back and enjoy it and maybe they wouldn’t get beat up as bad. The Brady bunch told women that if they tried to use a gun to defend themselves it would just be taken from them and used against them. I don’t believe all women are stupid and incompetent. A woman that has been raped, beaten and strangled with her pantyhose is in no way morally superior to a woman standing over a dead would be rapist with a smoking gun in her hand.
