So why DOESN"T the public get to know about these things that go on in this blessed town? Who keeps it from public knowledge? The police? The media? Who?

If I were a victim - I woud report it but I wouldn't want it broadcast. It's not anything but random rape unless there is a common denominator...... like the same perp in all the cases.

If not, then it's important to keep it what it is........... probably a random rape - where the victim possibly knew ther perp. Gotta keep violence in perspective. Ya gonna be less careful if you don't know about them? Gonna be more careful if ya do???? I think my privacy would come first. You can always as an individual go ask - but I don't think several, or 7 rapes constitue a crime wave unless they are connected.

1st of all...we can't assume anything without the facts. Random or serial it's STILL a huge issue. Why is it so high in the community? Lack of enforcement? Opportunity? Do we have more criminals? Either way something should be done.....

A simple fact is that reporting it in the media, would allow for the women of DC to be careful and pay more attention to their surroundings. Why is all of the "bad news" covered up in DC??

Eugenio Ciprian-Mejia, 22, appeared in Ford County District Court on Monday for his preliminary hearing on one count of rape, but action was postponed and a new date has not been set. The man is charged with raping the woman, a "passing acquaintance" in her late 20s, at her Dodge City home on Sept. 9, Dodge City police said.
Bond for Ciprian-Mejia, arrested Sept. 25, is set at $100,000, and as of Tuesday afternoon, he had not posted and remained in the Ford County Jail.
Authorities didn't reveal additional details about the incident but said Ciprian-Mejia didn't force his way into the alleged victim's home.

This is reminiscent of what we went through with DCPD when a family member was raped. Oh great, lets give the rapist kudos for not breaking in before raping her.

What I see here is a one night stand that perhaps the "aquataince" felt should be a life time stand........... it could be consentual that turns ugly. - happens all the time. I know your situation was not like that - and for that I am truely sorry - but the majority of rapes are mishandled by the police - they are mishandeled by those involved......... there are many rapes that are really just domestics gone bad. Ya gotta be careful. Ya gotta know when to say no - and to mean it.......... when ya say it..

maybe Lorena Bobbitt shoulda patented her weapon of choice as a method of punishment. That oughta be the punishment for any rapist. Stand still with no drugs and let the victim (or one of the victims) take care of the punishment.

A Dodge City man who allegedly raped an adult female acquaintance last month is now awaiting trial in the Ford County Detention Center.

A day late and a reader short!

That makes two of these rape/abductions in a row that the Hutch prints, then the glob publishes the story the next day.

Wonder if they'd ever printed the story if Hutch hadn't?
