A & W: Doomed?

Went by A& W today. Not a single car in the joint. At lunch time and on a weekend- that doesn't seem good. But hey, the dancing bear was there waving at all the traffic as they drove by.

So flashy signs and dancing bears aside, this place is really hurting.

Why are they hurting? Cause the FOOD SUCKS!

If it was me running this place, and doing as well as they are doing..I'd make darn sure the food was MORE THAN ADEQUATE.

I'd monitor the fries, make sure they are fresh and HOT. I'd make the portions heaping and fresh. At least until they developed a broad customer base.

I ordered a chilicheese dog and large fries and boy was I disappointed. The fries were cold and the package was only half full. The chilicheese dog had hardly any chili at all, and the dog was cold. (no offense lurker)

Scrap the bear, the racecar and all the other gimmicks and give us GOOD FOOD!! If you don't, the public will vote with their wallets and you'll be on your way out.

I agree Tee. I don't eat fast food often but when I do I expect good food and good service. If I don't get it I won't go back. Gimmicks don't sell food good food sells itself.

lurker went to Casa Alvarez today for lunch and they got hammered with customers.... They were Swamped.

Anywhoo, I was waiting for someone to take my money while the phone was ringing off the wall. I offered to answer it and they told me that they couldn't take any "take home" orders just then. I answered anyway...

The caller turned-out to be quite snotty while wanting to order 8 dinners. I politely tol't her that the help was swamped and I was just a customer... the little snot continued her rant.....

Anyway, maybe the snot should go to A & W.

If they banned smoking they’d likely have more customers than they could handle since the demand for that is so high. As for the quality of the food, everything taste better to non-smokers doesn’t it?

Eric has ran a fairly good business there, recently cited for one of the top A&W's in the country.

Give him a break, and help him out, rather than the B. M.

He is a fine young man trying damn hard to make that thing work.

I dont think these opinions listed here are to put down or belittle the manager in any way, but I do think they are directed towards him. He might run the tightest shift in the business without problems...but the real test of a crew is how they do business when the manager is NOT there. Hopefully he reads this or word gets back to him about this situation and he can get things corrected before his crew ruins his name and rep.

The Chili had that unique "fresh out of the can" flavor.
The fries were limp.
The rootbeer had shaved ice in it.

Stale fries did it for me. FWIW, M-D's dumps their fries after about 7 minutes....

Does Dodge City need to send Eric and the A&W to Garden City, or do we need to help him?
