What really gets me is that all doctors and hospitals give big discounts to people that have health insurance because the insurance company won't pay the inflated prices, but show up with no insurance and you get to pay full price. The price should be the same for all customers.

Yeah? And that's wrong because......

Actually, if you show up without health insurance, you have the option to make deals similar to the ones made by health insurors every day. You can let it go for a couple of months, ask to make payments and then talk to them about reducing some of the outlandish charges. No kidding - they'd rather do that than have you file for bankrupcy and never see a penny.

That must be true everywhere except Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City. They wouldn't budge on what they wanted for payment when I had to have an emergency appendectomy when I was temporarily without insurance. The surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and others were willing to work with me, but not the hospital.

Actually, the hospital left me no choice. They would rather see me not be able to pay my rent than to pay them what I could. They forced me to see an attorney and he recommended bankruptcy. It hurt me to do it, but the hospital backed me into a corner. That was about 14-15 years ago.

You should have just said, "No comprehende", and it would have miraculously vanished! WPRH is a corporate facility with lots of problems. As I have said before, tear it down and bring back the Catholic Hospital.

The path that is developing is leading to socialism, for sure. SOON, we will be the "SOCIALIST STATES of AMERCIA" not the USA. Then we all can eat from the plate of big Government. The bigger it gets, it will offer us more and more, the more we get, the more we become dependent on it. I don't want to be forced to become a mindless minion of the State. Pray, Preacher, Pray.

Just because we as a society say - it's important to take some responsibility of our people doesn't mean the USA will become the SSA.......... on top of all that if you really think that is even possible then you need to get your ass in gear to make sure that the goverment represents you......... the goverment is supposed to be YOU not a seperate enitity. You been readin too much big brother crap in 1984 -

Caring for one's brother is not selling out - making sure we as a nation have as good a life as we try to spread around in other countries is not a socialist regieme. What makes us different is that socialist govts don't take care of the world............ we do.

Just think we should take care of our own first.

By all means you are not being disrespectful. I'm glad you asked. I pay a grand total of 0 for my healthcare. While it's not the BEST healthcare in the world it's free for me AND my family. I pay zero in dollar amount but what soldiers DO pay for they healthcare is something that MOST won't do. Soldiers spents months if not years seperated from their wive's, children and loved ones. They put themselves in the line of fire, they work long hours, they go without hot showers sometimes or hot food...for healthcare. Last time I checked all 4 services and the coast guard were hiring so ANYONE wanting some of the "FREE" healthcare can step on up and get it. See..the problem IS everyone wants to bitch and complain about it but when it's offered to them they are not WILLING to work for it. Thanks for asking...
