No, you can't do that in Kansas, Bubba. I should know, as I hafta find secret places to hide the bodies--- ----However, and I know from experience, you have to have signs posted in order to enforce anything. All I gotta say is stay offa my property unless you have permission to be there, or you might get a little "shaken up"!

I don't know the laws in Kansas - I doubt if ya'll have that tho..... yes in Texas if your property is posted you can shoot.... We have ours so lit up you can read the signs from the road - It's one of those wierd Texs things but ya gotta hve a permit or they will get ya for dischargin a firearm in the city limits without a permit. Now ya can't coax your enemies over just to shoot em but if I was home, AT NIGHT, I don't have to wait till they are in my house to fear for my life. Our yard is posted and fenced........ I didn't keep my permit up so I know I would face an ivestigation just like any other homicide but the law is on my side due to the posting, fence, and such....... Texas has some really wierd laws........... but then that's why we are who we are.

If it was shown to be premeditated.......... it's murder - plain and simple - no sign will get ya outta that - I don't think.

You have just hit the nail on the head. Thank all of you. When we start asking as a group, who can we bring in to get things straightened out we are in deeper trouble than anyone is willing to acknowledge. The problem is not "who can we bring in", its "when will we become involved". The problem is not in the schools, its not in the Police officers, its in all of us. As a teacher I make myself available to all students, not just the "good ones" from 6:30 am till all students leave my classroom in the afternoon and that is sometimes around 5:00 pm. I have given my time to coach and "lead" these young adults, Coached summer soccer league, summer softball, officiated all types of sports etc. Where has the majority of the community been? Wanting to know...... When we can get someone in to take care of the problem.

I am not seeking acknowledgement for my activities, but I believe in the old addage, "it takes a village to raise a child." It is frustrating, not all want to be part of the solution. There are activities in Dodge for these "Gangbangers", they just need more people to lead them to the door.

What is the solution??? I don't have the answer, but one thing I do know is that these Children, are looking to the village for direction. They create their own direction when none is given. I will sit down with anyone to discuss the problem(s) and brainstorm the solutions. But I won't place blame on any one person or group.

Welcome Macdaddy! It may take a village to raise a child but what it really takes is a family. It takes parents that care about their kids. Personally I don't want the "village" raising my child because the values of the "village" are not what I want my child learning....

Here's a quote...
"There is one unmistakable lesson in American History: A community that allows a large number of young men to grow up in broken families, dominated by women, never acquiring any stable relationship to male authority, never acquiring any rational expectations about the future, that community asks for and gets chaos."

And again....I would prefer raising my child myself. I think it takes a family with good values and disclipline to raise a child....I suppose the village can raise yours...lol..

I guess I'm gonna have to move to Texas! Buy my property, post my sign and get a night vision scope. Any land for sale on the border??

Thanks macdaddy. There are some teachers that care, and you sound like one, but do you get the support from the school to do what you need to do? It seems to me a teachers hands are pretty much tied when it come to good old fashion discipline.

When a student can stand face to face with a teacher(authority figure) and call them names, there is a serious problem with discipline. No big deal for the school but these kids get released on society carrying the same lack of discipline. These are the ones that join gangs, deface public/private property and shoot officers.

I'm not just laying the responsibility on the school system but they do have the ability, no, responsibility to educate our children. I think most public schools refuse to take responsibility when it comes to discipline thanks to parents who have managed to scare them with the fear of law suits. This is nothing new, what is new is that today the scare tactics work.

More and more parents are sending their children to small or private schools looking to give their kids a better education. Pretty sad when these public schools with all their funding dollars can't provide the education parents want.

Sure is nice to see folks who still have that extreme passion bout what they do!..... Sure ya got days are that better than otners like all of us - but I would say Dodge is lucky to have a teacher like you - I'm sure Dodge has lots of fine teachers............. too bad all that fine teachin, facilities for bored kids, and committment seem to go to waste on some kids............ I don't always buy the parent thing (altho most the time it is the parents issue as well)....... I have seen parents with a good son a bad son...... lots of times it's just choices and consequences like Detecotr says

Welcome MCDad!!.... post often!
