Or seeing these people of religion happy with their lives which has the influence to help others be happy with theirs?
Still not getting it so, nevermind.

I get where Wordy is coming from and I would agree with his observation. If you want to believe that organized religion has not caused, or been the cause, of the vast majority of conflict since recorded time.....then I do not think you are truly wanting to see the truth.
Religion, by itself, is not a bad thing. It gives one a purpose, or a goal as I see it, by which to guide and live their life. When one believes that THEIR religious views are the right ones, and those who do not believe the same are wrong, then it becomes a problem. If you, or anyone, wants to believe the Bible is the true and accurate account of God's word......more power to you. I am one who feels that when God goes on a book signing tour promoting his official autobiography, I will believe what is written then. Does that make me non-religious? Does it make me an athiest? I don't think so. It makes me a non-conformist, in my opinion.

Now that I can understand but this statement isn't speaking of the past but the present time. He hasn't been around since recorded time.

In my experience religion is the cause of most of the problems, violence and horrible things that happen on this planet.
It's easy to point a finger and call it the problem, it's a lot harder to understand the real problem is thinking people of a difference can't co-exist. Different race, different sex, different religion it's all the same. It's not the difference that hard for some people to overcome, it's themselves.

The Jesus Story has many interpretations but one undeniable fact: It's (the Story) believers are in a societal class that broke away from the barbaric laws of the Old Testament.

Search Isaac and Ishmael for a better understanding of the modern Middle East conflict that predates the Crusades.

I am a Christian and believe in Jesus Christ........

What I don't believe in is an organized group of ordinary men and women who use the bible to further their causes, all the time proclaiming to be doing this in Jesus' name, when in reality, it is mearly for their own gain and agendas.

I don’t like it when someone holds up one of those small minority groups as an example in an attempt to paint all religious folks with the same broad brush.

I’m sorry if you took that wrong, it wasn’t intended to be directed at you.
