Anytime you have a *cough* discussion about politics or religion things tend to get heated. For those who remember some of the past boards know these spats are quite innocent in nature, but should never become the norm.

I have noticed this somewhat. I have noticed that certain "long standing members" get bent out of shape when they have their opinions questioned. Often when I post something I have it discredited or questioned which is ok. I learn from it and take info from all sides. BUT there are SOME long standing members on here that you may be speaking of that doesn't like to have their opinions discredited or questioned. If you do, they get bitchy. There are some pretty good exchanges on here sometimes which is great. If you throw out an opinion on here you are subject to having it picked apart, questioned, agreed with, whatever and in my opinion if one doesn't like that they should stick to the Joke Forum or the "Yeah that" because it's safe. I have seen others tear up people's opinion on here with no recourse or complaining.

We've had some good political and religeon discussions that were amicable and thought provoking. The ones that go bad are when people get personal with name calling and such.

I believe you can choose whether you take the bait and take it personally or choose to ignore it and stay on topic. If you take the bait, then the thread topic changes to a "yes you called me a name- no I didn't" thread, like the recent CCH thread did.

And while I weighed in at my disgust, I was speaking to both parties. Bubba took it wrong and hasn't returned. Another example of taking things way too personally.

Basically, what I am saying is..we can't be too serious. Don't take the bait intended to deflect you from your viewpoint and exploit your personal weaknesses. Keep an open mind and sincerely try to consider other points of view. I think we will find that on some subjects, we will agree with our biggest foe.

Well since no one but Tee has mentioned names - I will since me and AOO are not seeing eye to eye either. I think we see the board differently - I see it as enjoyment it seems that AOO sees it as a news source to spew sources and post links. I have been told that my posts are basically - filling up space - becuase it's of no interest to most and it's not on topic. I have been asked why is it no one says anything about that to me??? I don't know - why?????................ I have been relegated to the "pound" and every post I see is a jab - yet the "friendly" emails continue. Ya know - truth is - I'm tired of the bitch slaps, I'm tired of someone thinking they are post police, I'm tired of the dissention, hell - I'm tired of the Capt thinkin I have to know someone to say anything............ what the hell is goin on here? It's so bad i have found another board that doesn't even discuss politics. Not that politics is a bad topic but if you don't have sources and links it doesn't mean you don't have a view - I thought the forum was about views - I don't know why there has become this sense of "criteria" for any view worth posting.

I am the one that feels you shouldn't make a joke at someonelses' expense. It's rude and it's unneccessary. Yes Weezie is my friend and as a friend - it does upset me when someone takes a jab at her for something like her avitar. It's just rude because it's not done with a spirit of kindness - everyone here pretty well knows that.

I don't think Bubba is gone - I think he's just sitting on the side - I was so appalled - I did the same thing. AOO of course thought I was "hiding"............ I don't care who you are, what you do, when you know you are crossing the line it's called bullying........... I think it's wrong for children I think it's digusting when adults do it. That's my "view"................. hope this settles some of these skirting issues...........

I'm sorry if my views have upset some but the constant battering by AOO has made me rethink - just why do I come here? I'm here because I used to enjoy it - still do with some - when I can. It's not about putting folks on Iggy......... it's about being an adult.

It's sad that if you have something personal to say you have to air it here in the rooms...but that way you can get some sympathy.... So since you want the to air your dirty laundry....Disagreeing is not bullying. Thanks for mentioning my name. I have nothing against you at all Tex. I like you. I just disagree with some of the things you post. I do not call you names and I am not mean. I will give you credit though...that is a GREAT..."awe feel sorry for me" post. Backhanded jokes are made all the time on here from one person to another...it happens almost daily. I would post some for you but it's a waste of time. If you feel that me disagreeing with you is battering then so be it. No one else disagree's with you much because a lot of the time your posts are either incoherant or just flat out not pertinent to the subject which is your option. Maybe that explains why you have over 4000 posts but the same amount of rep as some who have half as many posts. You go down the line and post something to EVERY topic regardless just to see yourself type I guess. That's OK but if someone calls you on your BS don't get capped by it. I get called on my BS daily...and believe me I post a LOT of BS but I'm not on here crying and whining about someone "disprecting my avatar" or whatever. I don't care that you have found a website that doesn't discuss politics. There are different rooms on here for those that don't want to discuss politics. If you DO discuss them, be prepared to get into debate about it..that is what it's about. Again...very nice "feel sorry for me, post". Say what you want now...I'm going to go join Bubba. Hope you get the sympathy you need.
