| Yes indeed. AND the amazing thing is no one is complaining, whining or bitching about the comments anyone made here although they were barbs directly pointed at each other....hmmm...perplexing. Sometimes this place feels like Oprah meets "days of our live's". I just hope I didn't disprect your avatar. Have you bonded with it?

| [quote=The Drifter;34459]i hate seeing political debates on this site. I see a thread that smells of politics and i wonder how fast it will spin out of control. There's a few conservatives who blame every problem on the democrats(as a whole) and then the liberals blame those same things on the republicans(as a whole). It's dumb and repetitive." My problem is not with political debates per se; it's with debates on any subject (not just on this site, but everywhere) that degenerate into petty insults that do nothing to illuminate the topic. If I can back up my opinion with facts, I'll post a comment on the issue of the day. If not, I'll keep quiet. That rule works well for me, and it saves me from getting involved in pointless arguments. (Note: This is just a rule I follow and is not intended as criticism of anyone else.) Spirited debate is a great thing, and it's an essential part of democracy. Name-calling and insults just create more heat with very little light. |
