| I think they are referring to the "economic" impact, Lurker. 50 Mil of gaming, and 500 Mil of food, lodging, shoppping, "dog food", etc. By the way, lay off of the wet food, an just eat the dry until they get all the "bad doggie food" recalled! Of course, you probably can continue with the ribeye steaks! ![]() |

| Yes? Gaming revenues of 54 million! ie-money spent on gambling only! Total economic activity of 500 million! ie- total money in economic activity! I don't think the intention of the wording is to multiply the 54 by 5. |

| You have to get them here to spend the money. Not everyone would drive to DC. No (decent) bus depot, no train depot, no (few) taxis when they are here. Restaurants suck, can't walk Wyatt Earp from your hotel to a restaurant. Sorry, just random thoughts.

| My brother and his wife drive to Oklahoma to go to the casino from Great Bend so the willingness to go is there.

| Cashautta is a single standing casino in Lousisanna. It first started as what looked like a building built like a circus tent. They started with busses to there. They had minimal entertainment but the best buffett. The busses drop you off - you gamble for 6 hours or so then board the bus to go home. It's a real doable thing. I'm not sure if too many actually saw the town. Now you can't get a room in the numerous hotels, everyone goes to the buffett or the several $$ resturants in the huge casino that is attached to the luxery hotel. Just like a little Vegas. The circus area is in the back now and it's quite a nice place. The busses still cart folks in for a day of gamblin. We can leave here at 7AM, gamble all day and be home by 7pm all for bout $8 round trip. Not a shabby deal. I still havent really seen the town - it's not why I go.

| How many people drive from DC to the Topeka area to gamble!! Plenty!! And Texie is right, the buses of Senior Citizens on day trips flock to these places!! In fact, I had the lunch buffet myself at a casino a couple of days ago. Great food, and I did drop a couple of bucks for the hell of it! ![]() |

| I think you are right but I also think there will be a whole new set of issues to deal with. Some will be directly related to gambling - but then often time money makes everything look better.
