So one-sided that I lost interest about 2.5 posts into it. I tried to give it a chance. I liked the part about Atlantic City, what the post failed to mention is all the homeless, and run-down buildings, and trash were all there before the gambling and casinos. If it wasn't for the casinos, that area would be in the same shape. The casinos are about the only thing that is keeping it from going the rest of the way under.

I've got to agree as well. It looks like its straight out of the politicians playbook. Just replace "gambling" with the target of your choice. I've lived in communities that had gambling and they were nothing like stated.

I especially like the blame everything bad on gambling angle. Problem is you've got to want to believe this because common sense tells you otherwise.

Everything will change when "gaming" becomes the game.

48 states have some type of gambling. In our society there will always be victims. No matter how much you try to help someone you can't help those that don't want to help themselves. There are many people that gamble recreationally, just like there are many people that drink socially. There are always those who use something to excess and it hurts them. We don't ban drinking because of the drunks.... Missouri takes in over 200,000,000 a year from gambling revenue....think about just a portion of that coming to Dodge City..along with all the economic stimulus for this town... Right now what is stimulating our economy beside the meat packing plant? The plants probably do more harm than a casino will with their crime, gangs, raping of our resources and overcrowding of our schools with illegals...but we accept that for what? Higher taxes, higher crime, etc etc etc...and a lot of that money goes OUT of Dodge....

I might go along with ya, AOO, except that I respect the work Dr. Dobson has done with his Focus on the Family series. So I read it as containing truths and not necessarily one-sided. I believe him when he says he's done his research. But I agree with you on one thing....as many addicts as are out there, there's at one one non-addict spending money too. My take is that if they're gonna do it, they might as well do it at home where DC gets the $$$ advantages.

I take him, James C. Dobson PhD, for what he is, a Colorado Springs Evangelical nutcase who thinks that women should stay at home and raise kids and be subserviant to their husbands and that the earth is only 2000 years old.

Speaking of Evangelicals...has anybody seen the documentary called Jesus Camp? Scary stuff there, brain-washing techniques all used on children in the name of religion.

I have seen the Jesus Camp thing - it's what they want to do - its thier religeon............. it's sort of how Phelps came to being........ but it's not against the law. Now much different than teachin catachisim (sp) for catholics. They just look more moderate but I have seen some women who pray on thier knees till they bleed cause they felt that would get them to heaven and get them what they want. Not much difference to me.
