| I will take a gun tottin criminal who isn't any more interested in dyin than I am if I'm in a mass shooting scenerio. Ya know a criminal with a gun attending a class is just as apt to save ya as a legal gun totter. In that type of situation ANYONE carring a gun can help. Legality don't mean shit if they are holdin a memorial service for ya.

| Looks like some blokes, from down-under, blame the shooting on Americas "gun culture." Shootings draw global condemnation - Massacre at Virginia Tech - MSNBC.com Quote:

| Hey when bullets are flyin............. I could care less who does the shootin back!............. If I don't have my gun - I'll put my faith in anyone who does have one - I could care less if they have a permit or not! They can sort the details later. In a group the person who doesn't care if I die or not is still gonna protect me. It's a group thing.......... I don't think that much about it I would just find someones blood (if I didn't have any) and play dead. I'm tellin ya in mass shootings - play dead! It's not like they go around checking carotid pulses! If ya look dead chances are they will think you are.

| The people who are responsible, partially, are thoes who decided that the campus should be a "Gun Free Zone". VA is a right to carry state, until local governments get involved. Please don't let this happen in KS, or Dodge City. At least 31 of the deaths may have been saved, with the right to carry. Remember Kansas has a democratic govenor. |

| When the State of Kansas repealed the overall prohibition of concealed-carry they designated certain places where c-c was specifically prohibited. Those places include schools. Now consider this: in designating schools and other government property as gun-free, the State is placing the responsibility of our welfare and safety upon themselves or the city, county or school district. They are saying "You can't protect yourself with a personal firearm while here." In doing so, they are shouldering that responsibility. Let's take it one step further; when a business declares their property as gun-free, the business owner is also saying that THEY are going to protect their patrons when/if someone goes postal on their property. It will be a very interesting legal argument......

| I will submit that I was worried about the potential for accidents with conceal/carry in public places. I am no longer worried. I would just as soon someone that is trained and with permit and with firearm be around to protect themselves and others. Even someone without a permit. I do agree that schoolchildren do not need guns and it would be difficult for teachers/admin to have them around (guns), but there should be armed officers/security in school settings. In college, there should be more security, armed security and the ability for adults to carry firearms for personal protection. I do not feel that security in any form is enough to protect me and my family in any public setting. Knowing that the actual chance that I may be in a situation similar to the Va Tech situation is extremely thin, I would like to err on the side of a .38 mag.
