Just saying you can respect the office without respecting the person holding the office.......

And how is this accomplished?

I know that I may be bashing dems, now, but when Clinton was pres, I bashed some of the reps, too. It seems as if since the Reagan administration, there as been complete disrespect for anyone who holds the office of president (therefore, disrespecting the office!).

I am glad there are checks and balances in government, and pray they always remain. Those that think Bush is the great evil monster must first look at those that give him the power. Many were dems back in post 911 days, but the pressure to garner votes and shift congress from one power to another has caused people to backpeddle and change thier stance on certain issues.

War is never popular. People die. That is war. To blame the president for this war is only partially appropriate. I don't feel Bush ever lied, just provided with wrong info. If those that dissapprove of the war now, but not then were so gung-ho to derail the president, they could have used that aggression to disprove WMD, then.

So you're going for the "He is and idiot" defense then.

Well, if you want to put it that way, we can pretty much assume that every president was.

He either lied about the information he had or he was and idiot to use information he didn't trust.

Only in America, can a group in this case conservatives tho it's not unique to them, witness the total and complete mishandling of a post invasion occupation, witness the additional soldiers placed in harms way, witness the sorry way in which wounded veterans get treated in the military health systems, witness the civilian leaders deny any problems while troops and their military leaders openly opine to the contrary and then proceed to ignore such witness and blame any disenchantment on the oposition political party or the independent media. Sheesh, I thought you people believed in accountability and responsibility?

Shouldn't surprise one though, the people in the administration found ways to avoid the military when they were younger, the difference between Clinton and the current group is at least Clinton knew he didn't know anything about using the military.

Bull, war is quite popular or else there wouldn't be any. Remember Bush has shaped his entire presidency on being a "war time president" tho nothing is farther from the truth.

There was a congressional authorization to remove Hussein from power and seek/destroy WMD. There never was a declaration of war. The services did their job and over-ran the defending army and removed the previous government from power. The "war" is over. That this bunch of clowns failed to protect the peace and failed to protect the troops that has put the troops in the middle of a civil war in pure incompetence and borders on negilence.

"We" aren't at war. The human price of this war is being borne solely by the men and women in uniform who keep getting their stays extended along with their families. The financial price of this war is being pushed off on future generations. The rest of us go about our business everyday, plan our vacations, drive our cars, and everything else that happens in a free flowing economy. There is no common sacrifice, no Rosie the Riveteer. Hell we won't even dicuss raising taxes to pay for this folly. No the United States people are not at war.

We were in Japan and Germany for a decade or more after the end of WWII. Even if we could undo things and get the infrastructure rebuilt and some semblance of order restored, we're going to need to be there for a while. Or as George said, "our committment is not open ended", the Iraqi's don't want peace then we should get our people out of harms way and get back on track chasing terrorists, starting with getting Afghanistan stable again.

never lied eh? Tell us why he was on the campaign trail stumping for republican congressional candidates saying "stay the course" when he told the WSJ editorial board post election that "he had decided the strategy was not working in the fall and that changes were needed. How many more soldiers had to die while he was saying one thing while believing another?

I am sure you really know what kind of power the president really has. Most of what he wants to do is limited to the approval of senate/congress. Backdooring the president, whether the president is rep/dem or m/f, is wrong. Back in the day, you respected the president, regardless of your opinion of his actions.
Are you including lbj in that group?
