| Ouch to Army...lol I just meant that he did bring up a few points to some of my personal beliefs that I was uneducated about. I'm happy people are making a concerted effort not to flame me for having some beliefs that go against what is commonly considered teh social norm in this part of the country. |

| Drifter, I voted in 2004 against Bush. What I was referring to was his first election. I was still a junior in high school at the time. I didn't fully understand politics until after my senior year. But plainly I feel that American government is continuing to de-evolve into an archaic form of elitism that is dragging us into a fire and brimstone kind of fear that we can't help ourselves. And sadly, a vast majority of the American populace is to ignorant or to lazy to care for themselves. |

Amen to that. And if the court can somehow prove that a deadbeat dad is responsible for several kids that he won't pay for, then, uh, *snip snip*. I'm as tired as anyone of hearing about people abusing our charity. Make 'getting fixed' a prerequisite for recieving any more welfare checks. I'm sympathetic to the struggles of others. I like paying the taxes to help someone who just had a rough couple months due to a layoff and needs a hand getting back on his feet. I think a short term safety net is a sign of a civilized society. However, I'm not interested in carrying your butt long term. Welfare is charity, not a right. It is an act of kindness from each tax-paying member of our society. If you take advantage of my kindness, you can go straight to hell. Oh, and on-topic, I agree with YWS's original post nearly point for point. |
