I would agree Bubba....

I pulled into the sonic the other day to order an ice tea. Someone tried to take my order in what sounded like a very poor attempt of using English. I said HUH? They said whatever it was again so I just said I would like an ice tea...then to be funny the lady on the speaker said "HUH". This kind of set me off so I told her to get off the speaker and let me talk to the manager. She said she was the manager. I told her she needs to come out to my car. I asked her if she thought she was being funny. She said yes she did. I told her it's not funny and that I wanted the name and number to the owner. At first she told me he was out of town and then a couple of other excuse's. I finally got his name and number, called, left a message but haven't had my call returned. Some will probably scream racism but it has nothing to do with race...but it PISSES me OFF when I go somewhere to spend my AMERICAN freaking dollars and I CANNOT understand what the person is saying....

Welcome to business as usual in Dodge City Mexico.

I've noticed at the Sonic the carhops don't do much speaking. I usually get a quiet hello and nothing else. If you ask a question, in English, you get a grunt and a sort of sign language pointing toward someone inside.

We had a rather odd experience at the Subway yesterday. I'm sure the people behind the counter were speaking English but for some reason it was hard to understand. I laughed my butt off when the guy behind the counter asked my wife, after taking her first order, if she would like another sandwich and my wife heard would you like a banana sandwich? The look on her face was priceless.

I think they were just mumbling too fast or something.

That's why I hardly ever order through a drive thru window. I think the manufacturers make the speakers sound awful and then add someone who doesn't know the soon to be the official state language...it just spells a recipe for disaster. And that disaster is usually my food. So, anymore, I just head indoors and avoid Sonic and A&W like the plague.

I had a frustrating experience at Arby's drive-through window the other night that had nothing to do with the server's command of the English language — I hope.
I ordered a grilled, not crispy, chicken sandwich, potato cakes and a shake, and I had to repeat my order twice because the server thought I wanted mozzarella sticks AND potato cakes. Lo and behold, when I pulled up to the window, I found both items printed on my receipt, and a crispy chicken sandwich in the bag! I hope I kept my temper when I handed the receipt back and said I didn't order the sticks and didn't want them, but I was pretty ticked off by that point. (To be fair, the supervisor refunded my money for the sticks without my having to ask her.) The supervisor said they were having problems with their new speaker, which may be true, but I thought I'd made myself perfectly clear.
I like Arby's and don't want to start boycotting them, but I will if I have many more experiences like the one I had the other night. (Although I haven't had any previous problems.)

Dallas -
First Quarter Sales Up 34.8% Over Previous Year

DALLAS – Pizza Patrón, the premier Latino pizza brand, announced today its first quarter sales for this year have increased 34.8% versus the same period a year earlier. The impetus for the chain’s revenue growth is attributed to a number of strategic initiatives put in place during the previous 12 months. In 2006, the “Lista™” program was implemented systemwide, offering “ready now” large 15-inch pizzas, available in pepperoni and cheese for $4.99. In January 2007, the company launched its “Pizza por Pesos™” promotion which garnered international media attention and fueled intense debate on the issues surrounding illegal immigration in the U.S.

Although the corporate office was inundated with heated criticism to the pesos program, the stores experienced a heavy influx of new visitors. “Our customers love the program,” said Andrew Gamm, director of Brand Development for Pizza Patrón. “Perhaps our first quarter store sales are a vindication of sorts for occupying a unique position in the marketplace and not yielding to the pressure from the opposition.”

Today, Pizza Patrón operates 65 locations in the United States with aggressive expansion plans for the next 5 years. The company plans to continue growth through franchise distribution, partnering with qualified owner/operators who are committed to serving the Latino-Hispano community in their area.

"The Pizza for Pesos™ initiative is just one example of the things that we have done to better serve our core Hispanic customer,” said Antonio Swad, founder of Pizza Patrón. “We will continue to work hard to out-position our competitors when it comes to selling pizza, and we are willing to walk that extra mile at the community level where many are not. When I step back and survey the landscape, I really like what I see. We are a 20 year old brand that is really just getting started, the future looks bright indeed."

About Pizza Patrón
Pizza Patrón was founded by Antonio Swad in 1986. Since franchising began in March 2003, the brand has gone from four locations in Dallas to 65 in five states, with more than 40 under development. Pizza Patrón features fun and festive pizza stores that are community-based in Spanish-speaking or predominately Hispanic neighborhoods. In 2006 Pizza Patrón successfully introduced new products like Patrón Dippers™ and Fiesta Wings™, and rolled-out their “Lista™” (ready now) pizza program nationally. In addition, Pizza Patrón has developed a dine-in store model, the Pizza Patrón Rapidito (airports/malls) model, the “Tiendita” (portable mini-store extension) and their “Lista™” Drive-thru concept. All pizza dough is made fresh throughout the evening; no preservatives are added or needed. The sauce is prepared fresh in the stores from crushed Roma tomatoes and only 100% mozzarella is used. Whole and half pizzas are offered at prices as low as $4.99 for a large pizza with cheese and one topping and $3.49 for the same half pizza. A large 'La Patrona' pizza with everything is only $7.99. For more information, visit Pizza Patrón .

Unfortunately this seems to be the rule in Dodge as opposed to the exception. But at least we have beef packing plants and all the glorious things they bring to our city.

I think that bad service does reflect on the management. But also, I know that some businesses do put a lot of work into their staff, but they continue to be sub par.
I've been to Applebee's lately and the young lady gave us the wrong salad. It was supposed to have a different kind of chicken. When asked about it she said very sarcastically "well that looks like chicken to me". Well it does to me too, but nobody asked you what it looked like. Correct me if I'm wrong but treating people like they are stupid isn't going to get you a bigger tip!
The Central Station - I've been with just me and another person, and I've had decent service, not good food though. Everything was just not what you'd expect reading the menu. However the wraps were good, just too much to eat by myself.
I could go on and on about my terrible experiences in restaurants! But those were just a few recents....
