| Did you see the press conference with the Gov of Florida???? Crist?????....... She could take some lessons from him. Don't know what political party he is but don't much matter. Manners are manners and she's sorely lacking in my eyes.

| I liked her but didn't vote for her. I didn't vote for anyone in KS at anytime. Gov Crist planned for the fires to jump the Ga. Fla. border bout 3 days ago and got the emergency response rollin before the fire got to his state. His emergency folks have been lined up from Ga,SC,NC,WV, and Penn. Quite proactive press conference he had. Course you can't "plan" a weather disaster but for the hurricain states his proactiveness sure should be a lesson. His demeanor should be a lesson for any state official in a disaster. He was on CNN - catch it if you can!! It's quite impressive!

| Yeah Ray Nagin said that too...................... if the support is there and you don't ask - it's not anyone else's fault but yours. I'm sure Oklahoma, Colorado, Tx, and other states would be happy to help AND have. It's just not very professional to whine on camera - when help is knockin at your door. Don't call a crisis is there isn't one. Thats my point. I like Sebelius - she seems to be rather beloved in the state and I'm sure she means to do the right thing but politics just don't belong in Greensburg right now. Maybe later but not right now. Folks probably are still wonderin what they are gonna rebuild thier life - they aren't too concerned that she has had low inventory of equipment for 4 years. They wanna know bout now - and if it actually impeeds the work. I believe from what I have heard - that answer would be no.

| I hear ya Texie.......but you know as well as me, that nice guys finish LAST! I think she's good for the state......I think she was doing it in the best interest of the folks in crisis.......you simply can't blame someone who has your best interest at heart....

| Well you are right there............. OK if I offended I'm sorry......... I just see lots of disaster stuff - yearly and we have our own hurricaines and explosions as well. I just know what gets picked up and I call politics in any disaster. I'm sure her interest is the state. If ya can tho - check out the Gov of Fla and see what calm in the face of disaster looks like.................... experience helps I guess. I'm not there so I have only have an outsiders view on what it looks like. And that view is my own.

| I can truly see both sides to this. On one hand, I understand not using this as a stepping stone for a voice. However, I think the gov's big beef was the fact that the hours immediately following the disaster, she didn't have the equipment necessary to bring in goods and take care of her state. It takes time for the big tankers and other equip to come from other states. It takes a good four hours just to get from the other side of the state. I don't know what our levels here in DC or GC or Hays or other immediate areas are, but I imagine they were lacking from the war. I would think it would be troubling to have the equip you need tied up someplace else when you've been telling Washington for years that they need to replenish what they've taken. Now that all the dust is settling, yes, Kathleen has all the equipment needed. And the feds have been swift in providing. But when those comments were made, she didn't and the feds weren't. And when every second counts for saving lives buried in rubble, I don't think I want to wait for other states to offer help. |

| Unfortunately - every state faces that. Coastal states face it every year. A tornado is over in minutes - try having rubble for days while the storm is still pounding you. I guess like I said experience with weather really helps understand what is possible, what should be expected, and what kinda response is reasonable. It's a horrible thing no matter where you are but I just think cooler heads should previal with the leaders of any state. Course we all saw Ray Nagin and the cat fight that went on in La............ with good reason I may add........ but it was still astonishing to watch the fightin and scratchin goin on between parties. It's a painful reminder of how a lack of sleep can make a fool out of ya. I see both sides but know that there comes a time when ya need to just take care of the issue and leave the complaints for the after action report.
