| Getting a passport. I was wondering if anyone could tell me why I have to get a passport to go down to Mexico. (Thinking of going down to Cabo San Lucas on vacation this summer.) Whats wrong with this picture. We have to get a passport to go down there but what do they get to come up here? Interesting!!     |

| Passports are required for airline travel. You don't need one for ground travel; until the end of this year when even border crossing(s) will require one. The reason is simple: they don't want US to enter Mexico and meddle with their gummint. With a passport the US owns us and must take 'us' back. Without a passport, Mexico would be stuck with any one of "us".

| It's not so much the passport to get down there it is so that you can get back in here when you return. It's a new Homeland Security measure that takes effect soon. The new rules will make it tougher to get back into the U.S. from other North American countries. Unless you're willing to go the same route that the illegals use...

| I can tell you if you have not already applied you will find it hard to get a passport for this summer. I travel with students every summer and I have some that have been waiting since the 10th of feb. for their passports. Good luck. Even if you expidite you will be looking at 6-8 weeks. They say 4 weeks but hasn't happened this year. |
