Question about Latino Clubs

Does anybody know if the Latino Clubs are private membership clubs? Particularly the the one on 2nd Ave(old Longbranch Saloon). The one out on the corner of Earp & Ave. P. Also, the one on Trail St. across from the Rainbow bread store.

The reason I ask is that they were all open on the Sunday before Memorial Day. I thought that bars couldn't be open on Sundays. Also, while on the subject, does the fire marshal not do inspections and head counts in the latino bars? The one on Earp & Ave P on the Sunday in question had the parking lot full, the mechanic shop next door had their lot full and cars were lined up on both sides of Ave P from Earp to almost Military Ave. It seems to me with that many vehicles and the size of that building they were exceeding the fire code customer limits.

Those are good questions. I'm interested in the answers, too. I know places like Peppercorns are open on Sunday, and they sell beer. Does Latinos sell food? That may be the difference.

Technically all they have to do is sell some kind of edible material to be able to sell beer on Sundays. Hence why all the night clubs sell small bags of chips or peanuts behind the bar. But it has to be 3.2% beer.

Latino's on 2nd is an ok place really. Friday nights there are fun. Its the college night where they play a lot of hip-hop, rap, and techno. I don't go to the clubs for the musics usually. But I can't stay at one if its playing spanish music. It gives me a headache. Also I get enuf of that music at 2 or 3 am drivign by my house and rattling my windows.

Latinos is a restaurant if I remember right. Restaurant and disco or something along the lines of that... Malibu (on trail) I don't know a whole lot about them, last I knew they didn't sell food.. Most bars restaurants etc sell alcohol on Sundays. Last I knew anyway, I called applebees for a guest once that was the first I even heard of alcohol being served on sundays lol

I don't think that is exactly right. I think to sell beer on Sunday you have to have a certain percentage of your income as food. Thus, I don't think selling chips and nuts would equal enough of a percentage to allow the sale of alcohol on Sunday. I could understand the one on 2nd selling alcohol if they are a restaurant also, like it was when it was Longhorns. But the place on Ave P & Earp is a dinky little place.

Just found this information...

Sunday sales of 3.2 beer were legalized for establishments that maintain at least 30% of their gross receipts of food beverages in the sale of food.

But the thing is Bubba...they probably won't enforce it...just like the illegal gambling and drinking on Sunday's at the horse track...

Probably not...but they sure are quick to take away the right to sell alcohol from WalMart, Gene's Heartland, and others when they break the rules. Where are the equal rights when it comes to the Latin clubs that break the rules?
