| So if the pitcher isn't the pitcher YOU wanted............ then the whole team is a failure????............. Quit bein a democrat it isn't about sides. GW doesn't make ALL the decisions........... there's a congress to help him do that. I haven't seen them doin so good in the first 100 days yet.... looks like they are takin care of thier elite friends too.

Yup. I thought so. When it comes to Iraq and whether we should stay or leave, I figure the people who know the most and are in the best position to make that decision are those whose information hasn't been filtered through media or government, whether left- or right-leaning. In other words, those IN Iraq. Sgt. T, if I were a hat-wearing type of person, it'd be off to ya. If you say it's winnable and worth winning, I'll back ya. |

| Truth is GW has listened hundreds of times more just based on his veto history.................. I'm not goin there with ya cause I hate to banter moot points - it bores me. It's too easy to look for a blame - it makes it easier not to look for a solution.

| I know I'm young and relatively inexperienced in the ways of the world, but I still believe fully in checks and balances. The government works best when it works together and don't step on each other. I don't see that from either party or branch of government at the moment. In order for a president to be successful, he/she needs to effectively lead and represent the country and set policy where needed. Congress should be there to serve as a board and make sure the President does what's needed. But anymore, it just seems each branch (and each party) wants to do everyone else's job and screw the rest! So, yes, not only yes but a hell yes, I want Bush to succeed in leading this country. And thus far he has lead us. But, in my opinion, I don't think he has represented America very well. The same can be said of Congress, both before and after the election of 2006. The same can be said of just about all of the presidential candidates of 2008. None are are what I want in the greatest office in the land. I don't feel like I can rally around any one of them. |

| deuce, When the president goes off on his own and does what he thinks is right insted of listening to the rest of the country then the Congress has the responsibility to bring him back in balance by checking what he does. All 3 branches of government are co-equal and none should have more power than the others. This administration has done all it can to consolidate as much power as possible with the president. The voters spoke when they gave Congress a new majority in the last election and the president isn't listening. Unfortunatley that majority is too slim to push through everything that needs to be done and maybe we can hope for more in 08, we'll see. Congress needs to keep plugging away to make this president successfully listen to the voters. While they work to overcome the slim majority problem they can spend time giving this president something he's never had to deal with since coming to power, oversight. They may not have the votes to overcome a veto but they now have the power to shine a light on what's been going on in the White House and the rest of Congress as well.

| I agree with you Wordy about how the President needs to listen to the people. But, Congress does too. For too long, the Repubs did as they wished. I, and apparently many others, got fed up and voted in new blood. However, I now see the Dems have their own agenda that I don't believe is representative of what the vast majority of Americans want. From my prespective, Washington DC is no longer a true cross-section of America, and in my mind what makes our country truly great. That little Billy down the street could be President someday. However, the road we're going down now is a very slippery slope where only big $$ will win. And I see both parties enjoying the ride down with their lined pockets. |

| I have to say that I agree again with you Duece. This congress ought to be as ashamed of themselves as the last one. So to hear thier followers praise thier actions and actually try to convince folks that this new congress is doing what they are supposed to and what they promised to just makes me ill. Truth is the democratic congress is a untruthfull and underhanded as the one that left. They aren't gonna save anything or anyone other than themselves. Thank God they don't have the complete power they wanted............ we see they don't deserve it. So I say thank God for some of the seedy underhanded republicans left to put a check and balance on the new seedy underhanded democrats. As far as them checking and overseeing GW - that's like havin a inmate gaurdin the bank - what a joke............
