Talking Dodge vs Garden

I know we've all heard people say that Garden has "more" than Dodge, or is "better" than Dodge. But get this: last week a friend of mine from Garden said that people over there are saying they are jealous of us because Dodge has more than Garden and more was going on in Dodge! I was more than a little surprised to hear that. I asked what we had, because Garden has Home Depot and Target.

They said Dodge had:
Hobby Lobby
The Legends
A special events center (coming soon, I hope)
A casino (coming soon, I hope)
Tourism sites like Boot Hill (really, has anyone ever heard of Garden City outside the state of Kansas? They have heard of Dodge because of Gunsmoke)
Better rodeo
Depot Theater who put on quality shows
Nice ball fields
Car Racing
National Weather Center

All the years I have lived in Dodge it seems like I hear so much negative about the town and how the grass is greener elsewhere. For a moment, I kind of felt proud to be the envy of someone. They also said that since we had Pat Roberts as a senator, Dodge got favoritism when it came to federal dollars (I have no idea if that is true or not, and I hadn't ever thought about it, but I guess it could be possible).

Ok, it was nice while it lasted. I'll wait for the negative to start again.

I was visiting with Pat Roberts just the other day while he was taking a break from mowing my, errr.... his lawn. He really likes coming 'home' to do normal folks werk.

He said he really likes dumping warshington money on Dodge.

If you don't like Dodge City, GO AWAY! Believe me, there are worse places to live. I have been here over 10 yrs, and I do like DC. I never really liked Garden, and Dodge is a good launching pad to go to Metro areas like Wichita, KC, Denver, Dallas.
