Unemployment....my rant for today

This is just so irritating, I could SCREAM

I filed for unemployment on 6/15, filled out the application online. Filed my weekly claim that Sunday night. On Friday 6/22 I received a notice in the mail, that I needed to call Topeka, that they had a question about my application. I called 4 times on Friday, followed the instructions on the automated service that would get me to the department I need to speak to. Evidently, if there are too many people on hold, the automated service tells you to call back later and hangs up on you.

Monday, I try again. same thing.....so I try to called every 1/2 hour for the next 6 hours same thing....Finally at 3:30pm I get put on hold. Well I waited and waited...nothing. Knowing that the call center is open only to 4pm, I waited until 4:15pm to hang up, hoping that they would take the calls that were holding. YEAH RIGHT. (btw, the time I am trying to call, I finish the laundry, the dishes, paying bills, and looking online for a job, and find several more to apply for.)

Today, I finally get put on hold instead of being hung up on.....2 hours later, my phone goes dead....so I still didn't get through.

OK wth am I supposed to do.

I tried to call the Employment office in Dodge....and got another automated service, and since I don't have an extention # for someone, I have to leave a message in the general mail box. Yeah how much ya wanna bet I get called back anytime soon.

I have an interview tomorrow in Dodge so I'll run by there then and see what they tell me.

I might be setting myself up to be at fault for making you even more angry and frustrated than you are now but here’s a thought.

Is one of those options English/Spanish? If so try the other one and see what happens.

The other day my nephew went out to one of those ice cream trucks and was last in line, behind some Hispanics, and when it came his turn the guy shut the window and drove off.

You are an absolute fricken genius (and YOU have never once ever made me angry)

It took me two tries (because evidently you don't push the same buttons in the spanish version) but I got through with only a minute on hold. Now the problem is fixed.

Now I remember why I always listen to you....your so wise.

oh btw, the person that answered my call was extremely confused when I said I'm sorry I don't speak spanish. She said why did you use the spanish line. I said because I'm tired of trying to get through on the english line.

It might have been just a fluke.

If not, there’s no excuse for this. Those automatic systems have the ability to track just about everything including how long folks set on hold, abandon calls (when you get tired of waiting and hang up) and the call volume of Spanish vs. English at any time during the day. If there are bilingual attendants logged into the Spanish line waiting for a call while the English line has calls backed up they aren’t using the reports and assigning personal properly.

Your probably right about that piticular auto attendant, but I know from my own work experience that some systems can not track those things. Some auto attendants tie to a voicemail system, like mine, and there is no way to track once it is sent to the auto attendant.

Zeb, you’re right that some systems don’t do the tracking reports. Depending on the system sometimes it’s because the costumer simply didn’t order the software with the extra features. My gut says a government entity bought a top line system with all the bells and whistles and a manager is too lazy to use them.

Yep, Hiway - that's where my bet's goin', too. Those systems give a manager so much information it's almost comical. Seems like they ought to have an auto-manager instead of an auto-attendant. They can also see the number that called and the number you called if you made an outgoing call, so they'll be able to separate business from personal if they know your personal numbers.
