Bad Water in Dodge?

I just received a letter in the mail as did everyone else I'm sure saying that the water is not good due to something in the water in a higher than normal level. If you are deficient on your immune system or you have a child it says to consult your doctor but it says the water doesn't have to be boiled. What is the deal with this and is it something they can fix and if so what is being done to fix it? Are there any long term effects?

In my opinion this just adds another line to the answer of the question...WHY NOT DODGE?

E. Coli is just an indicator bacteria, as it naturally lives in the intestinal tract of humans and animals. Just because it is present, does not mean that their is any danger. The KDHE requires municipalities to inform the public if they are in violation. However, in my opinion, it does little good to inform us so long after the fact. It does take awhile to get a report back from the State though, as they process a very high volume of samples. As for your concern for your baby, Army, the nitrate levels are of a concern due to oxygen depletion which causes a condition called "blue baby syndrome".

My baby doesn't drink any water from here..lol. We have culligan bubbler. Thanks for the intel. You know a lot about water and cow poop.

Shoot Kodiak, why don't you just fill your jug from the RO at the carwash?? Same thing that Harding sells. Except his may be run through a UV or ozonated. Not sure how his new plant is set up.

It happens quite often actually, it could be something as simple as the person taking the sample had dirty hands and got them in the sample water. If you read in your letter it says that it failed for TOTAL COLIFORM not FECAL COLIFORM. They are completely different things. If it tested positive for Fecal Coliform then you and everybody would have a reason to be very worried.

Also, the letter stated that only a few samples failed out of the total of samples. I threw my letter away so I don't know the exact numbers. They are allowed to have something like 2 or 3 samples have total coliform out of the 20 or 25 samples. They had 1 or 2 samples more than they were allowed test positive for total coliform.

Yeah MIT, thats what I do. Just so happens, Derrick is one of the owners of both Car Washes and the Truck Wash. The new plant runs through an Ozonator, either way taste the same through the RO at the wash.

Step daughter is one of the people that tests water samples. She said if we only knew what she found in the samples, we'd never, never, never drink tap water. So we don't. We stock up on bottled water when there's a sale and have a water filter on the frig. Tap water is used just for washin' hands and clothes and bodies!!!
