I have a question for any of the PD members here or anyone that might be able to answer this ?.

If someone is stopped with no license on record what happens? Are they arrested on the spot? Ticketed? What?

Well:

It sometimes depends on the officer and situation. If they have VALID form of ID (A legal goverment ID prefer Kansas ID card, but not a work ID) then most officers will issue ticket. If it is out of state ID the law says officers CAN arrest. If they have no Valid ID most officers will arrest but are not required to but must take photo of driver. If many kids in vehicle and driver can find some one to get them them the above is used. If no one can come and get them then most officers will usually take photo and ticket driver.

I hope this helps a little. To tell the truth is it different for every situation because not to situations are the same in law enforcement. That is why officers are allowed to make the call.

Sure does..because in Garden City if someone gets stopped without a driver license they get arrested period. They are taken in and have to bond out or sit in jail. That's the difference between their city and ours. They have tougher enforcement than Dodge in a lot of things. You don't hear about the problems in Garden that we have in Dodge, at least not on the same scale.

Same here and this is a very small town.

no license = arrest

not having your license in your possession = ticket

I'm sure the chief of Dodge would be happy to sit down and talk with any disgruntled person that feels that Dodge is less a town than Garden due to the police.

Retired is correct. The main reason we arrest for No DL, and when someone can't produce any other form of ID, is so we can get record of who they are. It allows us to get fingerprints and pictures of the person. Even if they use a fake name, we still get fingerprints and pictures to match later. Hope that helps more!

Why not just cut off their feet, so they can't hit the gas or brakes? If that doesn't work, chop off their hands too!!!! Third strike, the head comes off!!!!

Sure it's a little extreme.. but after first 12 or 17, they'll get the message and stop. You could make it an Afternoon thing down at the Wright park bandshell!!! everyone bring their picnic baskets and kids.
