Just a quick comment, off the subject....the cop couldnt have done anything about that situation. Your yard was damaged, I can understand you being upset, I would be upset if it was my yard, too. However, this damage would be a civil issue between you and whomever did it...criminal damage is a specific intent crime - the person had to intentionally meant to cause damage to your yard. Hopefully you got everything resolved with the moving company. The most the officer could have done is a miscellaneous incident report, pretty much stating you alledge the moving company vehicle of causing the damage - it documents the incident happened, but no crime was involved.

It was fine to call the cops - about 50% of our calls involve civil situations where no crime was committed. We are happy to guide people in the right direction to resolve the situation even if we dont have paperwork we can fill out for the incident or go arrest someone.

I had the same thing happen with one of my trees "trimmed" by someone. When I called the City and told them what kind of mess they left, they explained that FEMA did it. That if there are limbs hanging over sidewalks or in the street they cut them down.

Then I explained the mess and the gentlemen from the forestry place said that he would be by to inspect it and that they should have picked up their mess. It was picked up the next day.

Ya, still pissed they cut this one branch down, I keep my trees trimmed and I didn't think it was too bad. But difference of opinion I guess.

yeah I was kidding....

Don't get me started on some of these "easement issues". There is a nice set of ruts through the frontage of my workplace that start "conveniently" next to a switchboard for the Phone Company. And this switchboard is located not 2 feet from our driveway.
