City Tree Trimming Question!?!

A friend of mine called me tonight and said the city came by his house today and "trimmed" some trees in his yard and elsewhere. They left ruts and divits in his manicured lawn and cut up his tree's. Why would they do this and who would he contact about it???

They were probably on the City easement. Like Drifter said, contact Roger Settle with the city.

Those tree trimming guys got on my nerves the other day. I was driving north on 6th The tree mans truck with the basket was parked on the east side of the street. The man cutting trees in the basket was on the west side of the street. To drive on 6th you had to drive UNDER the arm of the basket ( not sure what else to call it). We were careful to drive under it because it just did not seem right, and the man in the basket started to come down with out ever looking to see if any cars were comming or under him. It about caused an accident. I tried to look on the side of the truck to see who owned it and I didnt see anything to identify it. I wonder if there was a particular reason why they had to go do it this way and why they couldnt just park on that side of the street. It just didnt seem right to me.

Army, I would bet that you friend had gotten letters from a "Vicki Williamson" and she is the Cities Inspection Officer. She is the one who will send you a letter giving you X amount of days to mow your yard, trim your trees etc. If not done in the alloted amount of time, the city will come and do it, but then charge you a very large amount of money for doing so. Check with you friend and see if he had gotten these letters from her.
She is a real piece of work, that one! If your disabled, elderly, or just flat poor, makes no differance to her at all. She is a "GOOD" little city thief!

Some of the main avenues in town could definitely use some trimming.

Victory Electric sent the tree trimmers to my house, which I had no problems with. I showed them where the last guys had massacured (sic) my trees and it has taken me 5 years to grow them back in properly (they still look bad and one tree lost half the limbs, but it didn't die and has filled in somewhat). These guys were a hoot though. They did not want to cut the trees as far as Victory told them too because it would look like crap. One of the trees has a nesting pair of Mississippi Kites in it. The tree guy actually called the wildlife guy to see if he could cut the tree. Needless to say they cut very, very little off of it.

This guy keeps his yard well manicured. He called the person in charge and had him come and look at where the yard was messed up and the guy basically said that his people didn't do it...lol That was that.

When they moved the Rock Island depot across my front yard (both halves) and left ruts deep enough to high center my riding lawn mower the cop’s answer was “They had a moving permit.”
