About this BIG BANG thing

so many questions, so few answers..........

I really don't have a problem with theories but I do have a problem when certain groups feel they have the right to pick and choose which theories are taught.

Is the theory that our universe was a planned creation any more ludicrous than the theory all the matter in the universe came from a point smaller than a single atom? Both theories require faith to believe yet only one gets labeled "a religious belief" and not proper to be taught in school. Very convenient if you ask me.

The difference between a scientifically testable theory and one thats not? Hogwash! Again, nothing more than a convenient excuse from people who really have no business calling themselves men of science. Creationism is a very old theory with a huge following. For that reason it gets labeled as a theory based in religion and not fit to be examined in public schools.

It reminds me of a man of science years ago, who was known for thinking outside the box, who dared to challenge science of the time with the theory that the earth was not the center of the universe.

I'm not saying creationism should be taught in science, although I see nothing wrong with it being mentioned, but what makes the teaching of the beliefs of other religion based on past gods such as Apollo any different than God? Fear!

Another thing that gripes my butt is the idea that "In God We Trust" has no place in our schools. Its our national motto for gods sake! Its not some Christian Right-Wing political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women on Christian principals founded this nation. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.

Agreed!!

That's why we either should teach none, or all and then let the person decide which they choose believe in.

Because, booger, we did not evolve from chimps but along side them. Same way we, as humans, are distinctly different depending on what region of the globe we come from.
Now, not to make the religious people upset, but if we were created by a supreme being then why are we, as living beings, so complicated in our design? If you invented something, would you not make it as simple as you could? If you were all powerful, all knowing and all seeing........would you not use that when making something? Or would you just leave it up to your creation to give an answer of "It's God's plan" and leave it at that? Would you create a planet that is habitable but yet not put your best creation on it until after a billion or so years?

You see, these are questions that you cannot answer unless you ask God personally. You cannot form tests, you cannot use trial and error, you can't do anything to answer these questions but put forth your best gut feeling which is based upon whatever religious beliefs you have. While the "big bang" theory has it's flaws, and is definately not the one true answer, it is one that can be somewhat tested. Evolution is the same thing. I can show you the similarities between us and apes.........can you show me the similarities between us and God?

Personally, I believe in both; in my opinion, there is a God, who created heaven and earth.......however, there is also Evolution; anyone who works in healthcare knows that organisms EVOLVE; which is why we have resistant strains of bacteria that no longer respond to Penicillin......those strains have EVOLVED to become resistent to an antibiotic that once killed them off.......evolution and adaptation.....along with a Supreme being...

Like it or not, it's called "seperation of Church and State".........If you want to learn religion along with algebra......there are PRIVATE, religious schools that you can attend. All you need is MONEY.....they are quite expensive. I know from experience Otherwise, it's algebra in PUBLIC school and religion in SUNDAY school.............
