| When I was there 7 years ago they just wheel you down the hall for the operation. Of couse I didn't have a c-section but got my tubes tied one day after giving birth. I REALLY liked the Womens Center and I bet you will too if it hasn't changed a bunch. When are you due? |

| I liked the womens center... they do the surgeries there (i had an emergency csection) the rooms are comfortable but sometimes it gets super hot in there, but they provide fans.

| As for the healthcare it'd be nice to have help w/ it of course because the costs are outrageous , but all in all i'm aware it's my responsibility.. I just won't go to the dentist or dr until it's an absolute emergency and need to go in order to live  w/ exception of my current status (pregnant) I am on medical card.

I once had a doctor prescribe a $150 per month med and tell me that I just as well be on it because I had good insurance. Other docs have told me that the med wasn’t needed if I took an aspirin a day. Its no wonder to me why insurance is so expensive. We have enough problems with HMOs dictating our treatment without the government trying to step in.

| Having been there for all four kids births, and having them all in Europe, I can say that the american system is much MUCH better. I had my first two in Germany, and my second two in Italy. If you wanna talk about scarry, you shoulda seen the look on my face when they came out with the IV fluids in glass bottles in Italy. It was straight up civil war era crap there. In Germany, the Chief of Staff for the hospital delivers all babies for Americans, but in Italy, midwives do all the dirty work. The European system doesn't cover epidurals BTW. The good drugs cost extra under socialized medicine, only local anastesia is free.

| Oh, I don't know, Sherry - childbirth (if an uncomplicated childbirth) is the most natural thing in the world. I had my first one that way because the local hospital wasn't large enough to have an anesthesiologist on staff or anesthesiology equipment. The second one was by choice. I had an excellent coach for the first one (a nurse specialized in natural childbirth - my hubby was helpful, but just as nervous as I) and it taught me I could do it! Don't say you can't unless you check it out first, OK? It was amazing! And I didn't feel drugged afterward.
