I would think our elected officials should feel offended at the notion that they would be so racially bias as to not treat Hispanics as equals. These people should be elected on how they represent the people, not just a certain group of people. Thats what you do when you elect someone just because "we need a few of these in office." Stupid!

We've also never had a gang banger in city or county government. Lord knows they obviously represent a good portion of the population of Dodge City. Perhaps we should also put a few in office? You know, to look after the special interest of their kind.

As are MOST of the immigrants that come here legally. This country was founded on immigration because most of our families immigrated here. If we didn't have immigration where the hell would we get our doctors from? We'd have to drive to Canada and wait in line...hehehehe.

Gang bangers are criminals and wouldn't run nor be elected. Although our leaders are elected to represent everyone, not everyone is represented all the time. Say we had all hispanic leaders. Do you think they KNOW and UNDERSTAND how the caucasion demographic feels, what they need, want or what direction they would like to see the city move? I doubt it. We have elected a Democratic congress but when they stand up and call for immediate withdrawls of the troops they are not representing me. I think there should be voices from all people BUT that can't be forced. They have to be elected by the public and if they don't vote then they don't get a voice.

If they didn't then they don't belong in office. Thats the problem. People like to point out our differences. Are we not all Americans? Well, those of legal status. Do we not elect our officials to represent us as Americans not as Caucasians, Hispanics, Asians, Indians or Blacks?

If our Representatives are not representing ALL Americans equally regardless of race, then we elected the wrong people. Electing officials based on race IS electing the wrong people.

We do enough electing of the wrong people for the wrong reasons already.

But it's not that simple...different Americans have different needs. Native Americans have different needs than say...you or I. They face different environments and different challenges. Poor people have different needs than wealthy people. A poor person might want some type of welfare increase or another hand out while a rich person may want the capital gains tax reduced... A black person may be interested in stopping racial profiling or in affirmative action while a white person may not want affirmative action. A female may be interested passing tough sexual harrassment laws in the work environment while a male may think they are too tough. IMO to understand the needs of different races, sexes, cultures etc they need to at least be heard. I'm not saying INSERT them in office...and if they don't have enough gumption to run for office or vote then they get what they get...

I know what your saying. I just believe it should up to our elected officials, no matter the race, creed, or financial status, to fairly represent us as Americans, or Dodge Cityians in our case, based on their ability not there status. If they don't then we elected the wrong people.

If we elect someone poor because they better understand the needs of the poor, then all we have is an elected official that caters to the poor at the expense of the rest. They make decisions based on the needs of the poor and not the city as a whole.

I'm simply saying we should elect our Representatives based on their ability to do the job, not on their ability to do a good job for one group of people.

Caucasians have been the majority in dodge for many many years. Can you name me one thing a Caucasian official has ever done as a representative of Caucasians to benefit Caucasians? Why now do we need a Hispanic Representative to represent the Hispanics?

If we put a Hispanic in office let it be because they were the right person for the job, not the right color.

I've only been here a short 36 months but I'm not sure I can think of one thing any official has done to benefit anyone in Dodge but maybe a select few insiders...lol.

Don’t fall into the political correctness trap by saying Hispanics. Not all Hispanics are illegal and not all illegals are Hispanic. Call them what they are, criminal aliens or just illegals. Don’t let the open borders people define the debate.

Examples;
Undocumented immigrant attempts to elevate illegals to the same status as legal immigrants. They’re not immigrants. Immigrants follow the law.

Migrant workers implies they are all working, paying taxes and not abusing the safety net system of welfare and medical care that we have for legal citizens.

A good example of what happens when you put the wrong people in office is what we are seeing happen in California. I saw this morning that they have passed another law making it illegal for landlords to check immigrant status. Thats how they look after the special interests of the people the represent.

Because Hispanics are the majority in southern California they also in office. All they are doing is working to make California a sanctuary state. All you've got to do is look at these areas to see the future of Dodge City.
