Like most crimes it takes at least 2 to tango so it takes a multi-prong attack to address it.

With drugs you go after the dealer and the user, because you can't have one without the other. With stolen property you go after the buyer and the seller.

People keep saying that we have illegals because people keep hiring them. This is true of course but its only part of the problem. These same jobs are open to everyone not just illegals from the south so why do you think our problem is with these people? Other countries have it just as bad and want a better life for their families.

The problem needs to be addressed from all sides. These people are knowingly breaking the law. Thats a choice they made that other people aren't willing to make. They are just as much to blame as the businesses that hiring them and our government that turns a blind eye. There are many others as well such as our schools and churches.

Its easy to pass the blame but until we all address the problem it will continue.

RIGHT....and that's why they should go after the companies that hire illegals AND close off benefits to them. Once that is done there's not a big reason for them to be here and the trickle down effect should have less illegals coming here.
On that note I seen a news story about the Gov. of NY making it easier for Illegals to get a drivers license. UGH

Thats why the article in the Globe about putting a Hispanic in office just because it better represents our demographics pissed me off. This is the stupidest idea I've heard in a long time. Lets take that concept a bit further and say if we really want to represent our demographics, we should put a few illegals in office.

Fact is if we were to remove the illegals from dodge Hispanics would no longer represent the majority.

Sanctuary cities are started by first over population, until they become the majority, then putting "representatives" in office who work to make it easier for them to live there.

The 2 entities that stand to benefit from illegals also are their strongest supports and powerful players in dodge. The packinghouses and schools. I know the schools can always claim there is nothing they can do at a local level, which is BS because they are quite willing to address free speech and religion at a local level, but just as big business is now being forced to address the illegal issue nation wide, so could the school systems.

The New York Times on August 27, 2007 profiled the six counties of the Rio Grande Valley that are home to 400,000 Latinos living in colonias, which are lots sold without sewer and water hookups. After tighter regulation and state and private aid, about two-thirds of the houses in the colonias now have water and sewer connections. In 1995, the Texas Legislature required developers of new colonias to install electricity, water lines and sewage pipes or septic tanks.
Migrant farm workers bought many of the first colonias, but today more are owned by those working at minimum-wage retail jobs, in construction or in housecleaning.
Kansas. Dodge City, Kansas, the home of Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, is increasingly Hispanic. The beef packing industry began to move to rural areas of the Midwest in the 1960s, and the trend accelerated in the 1980s. The wages that attracted immigrants have been associated with falling poverty rates- the poverty rate in Dodge City was 28 percent in 1980 and 14 percent in 2000, but per capita income of $15,500 was below the US average of $21,600.
The National Beef plant in Dodge City is not unionized, but the United Food and Commercial Workers is trying to organize the largely Hispanic work force. The UFCW has called for congressional hearings into tactics used by ICE during immigration raids, citing the December 2006 raids at six Swift & Co. meatpacking plants. ICE agents arrested more than 1,200 workers at the Swift plants.
About 70 percent of the 5,800 students in Dodge City schools in 2006-07 were Hispanic, and 44 percent are limited English proficient.

A few generations of welfare support from our FAThers turned that little island into a ghetto preserve.

The onliest thing different here is their opportunity to actually 'work' for awhile.... then let their entitlements begin.

I heard that approximately 50 either have arrived or are on their way, but who knows?? National will be looking for some more too, once they get their addition done.

Gunner75 Is hated by most DodgeBoard members
First of all, I think that everyone entering this country should have to take the "test" or no entry/worky. Pass, or try again. English, or nothing. You are always going to have your areas, but it gets old fast.

Who are you going to get to work at the plants? You people that don't see the big picture need to really look at it.

Take the packing plant away, and Dodge will be what it was in 75. Nada. There won't even be a Super Wal Mart here.

I know, you don't like my tone, but just hear me out. Although some of you may not hunt, but this Wal Mart pulled the firearm side of things out. Why? If the area was active enough in it, they would still sell guns. This is actually one of the many items people do not really look at.

Where in the hell is the big country bar at? There isn't one. Why, because it won't/doesn't work anymore.

I don't like it all either, but seriously. And who is going to work at the "casino"?

Who do you think. My bet is that it will be 40% Hispanic to start with. Your largest portion of that will be "hotel and restraunt" type jobs. Before you know it, it will be 60% plus.

Another something that I will bring up since I probably have everyone's att'n is that many high school aged girls won't work fast food anymore. Why, lazy? (yes, but). Same thing. There dads won't work at the packing plant anymore, and there mom won't work at the grocery store anymore.

One thing that is obvious is the "white man" don't want to work, so what do you have in an area like this? The Hispanic side of things grows like no other. That is why many of your "north" Dodge residents have Hispanic neighbors, and it will continue to happen this way.

There is a large ag area outside of DC, I will tell you that it is in NM. I won't say where. They have a huge employment problem there. By the way, they have a packing plant but it is a lot smaller than here. The farmers cannot get a white boy to work for nothing. They ship guys in from overseas to work on an 8 month program. This is all going on while the lazy white boys are setting at the coffee shop griping about this going on. IT IS TOUGH WORK, trust me. But man if you don't have a job to support your family, take what you can get. At least until you can get something better.

I touched a lot of points, and am sure I fired up many. I am not that far off. Sorry. I have witnessed this for years.
