| I did hear something about a Puerto Rico "movement" by Cargill...Don't know bout illegals, though this could be the case. I think we all know about the illegal problem we "don't have" at our packing plants!

| I just heard that the plants were busing in 120 for 1 plant and 90 for the other on either the 25th or 26th. So I'm guessing they(plants) know of 210 illegals in their employment. Isn't this sorta side stepping the issue? Importing cheap labor to replace the illegal. Getting rid of the illegals is a good step but replacing them with more out-of-the-area people is going to make for one hell of a mess. Dodge City will once again be the "wickedest little city in the west" once the fired illegals meet up with their replacements. I pity our law enforcement. They're going to have their hands full.

| What about all of the "out of area" people that will come here to work in the casino. I doubt that they will be illegal or Puerto Rican. Dodge doesn't have the employment base to fill up the workers that the casino needs. I would think any workers moving here (as long as they are legal) is a good thing...

| Side-stepping the issue? Everyone is always complaining on here about the illegals working in the packing plants and now one plant is taking steps to make a difference and get legal workers and it still isn't good enough? How else are they suppose to handle it? The work force in DC isn't that large. When does the complaining stop and the recognition that someone is trying to do something begin? I'm not saying it is the only option but MAN! It seems (and I know this is a super grand generalization so don't roast me. Or do whatever.) that maybe the fact that they are illegal is just an excuse for the real reason you don't like them. I am speaking to the general "you" here. Just buck up and be glad someone was listening to the "no more illegals!" battle cry. |

| They are "taking action" ONLY because of the nation wide crackdown on illegal employment. They don't give a shit what we locals think about how they have destroyed our community. If they did they would have done some thing long ago, and they would be bringing in replacements from Puerto Rico. Its not rocket science. What it is, is an outright disregard for the community that gave them a place to call home, only to shit on it at every opportunity. This covering of their own ass is a in your face way of saying we don't give a shit. I don't have noting against Puerto Ricans but if you have ever been to Puerto Rico you know this is trading lemons for lemons. Al tho Puerto Rico is part of the US it has more in common with Mexico than the states. Some of them do speak English, but I highly doubt the imports will. Working in a packing plant is a dirty job. Packing plants thrive on a dirty community, so its in their best interest to keep a community populated with the right stock. There is nothing the local community can do because these plants have been in the business of community destruction for a long time, and they are very good at it. They have their claws deeply buried in the upper echelon of the community that keeps them untouchable. Feeding the right people(school system) also keeps them out of the community's reach. They know how to stay in business. But make no mistake about it they don't give a shit about the community. I'm betting you won't find one owner that lives in the same city as one of their plants. And for good reason. |

| I agree jackknife I'm happy to see action toward illegals but as Neo said I really don't think it was a choice of the plants. We're seeing a nation wide crack down on illegals and these plants are simply covering their own rears. Its also my understanding its both plants not just one that are firing the illegals and replacing them with legal imports. I've also been told "you think we have a gang problem now, Puerto Ricans wrote the book on gangs." Why couldn't they(packing plants) have hired workers from within the 48 states? Its not like we don't have our own unemployment problem without importing from Puerto Rico.
