I noticed that the last week or so, there was a lot of cleaning going on. Also, a lot of people "moving their asse3s" for a change. Hell, I even got THANKED for shopping there once!!

I think if everybody voices their opinion to the new manangement.... we will scare her off. I think it is going to be sooooo overwhelming. The history with "our" Walmart is... It starts out beautiful, then goes down hill, then a new manager comes in and turns things upside down, then things start slipping, and pretty soon it is a mudslide again. THEN the manager does not care anymore and they move on to another store and let the people in Bentonville send in another superhero to look good for a while because they are pretty gunghoe ( is that even a word??) and straighten things up again. It is a vicious circle. We are all a little dizzy.

Wal*Mart, like many other local businesses, have put the emphasis on being bilingual rather than being a people person for its employees. I've seen some people say speaking more than one language is some sort of sign of intelligence, but personally my experience says the opposite.

Then most of our bilinguals speak fluent Spanish, but suck at English.

I think Walmarts problems have little to do with employees being bi lingual. Actually, the employees I know there said the Hispanic employees (while maybe have not perfected ENglish) are some of the hardest working employees. I KNOW this is a generalization but he said that the caucasion people that are pissed off about only making 6 something an hour are the ones that do the least work because they think they should make more to do what they are doing.

I think the problem is managment/training and pride. This Walmart has none of the above and it shows.

I disagree. My biggest complaint, although not as bad lately, is a lack of communication, and especially a lack of wanting to help customers. Hard working? That should also cover customer care as well right? Hasn't that been the major complaint?

I have several friends that have worked there for a long time and their view of the problem IS current employees who were hired on their ability to speak Spanish and not on their people skills.

Ultimately the blame does fall in the lap of the managers for hiring based on the wrong skill set.

You are probably right about the language barrier with us but with 70% of their customers there isn't a language barrier. When a business has 70% Hispanic customers spending $$ you have to be able to help them also. There should be a balance. The Hispanic people working there to speak Spanish should also be able to speak English though, hence the word BI Lingual.

Personally I don't think there are very many people at Walmart with many people skills. If there are then they keep them hidden in the back room. I haven't seen any employees at Walmart worth $18.00 an hour. LOL
