I believe that too but I can't find that out anywhere. I am working on finding out if those are the "reported" rapes or charged rapes. I would say they are the actual charged ones from looking at the other stats...but I don't know to be honest. The website should make that a little more clear. Hopefully Mr. Ball will email me back soon with an answer.

Looking at the title on the page..."2006 Crime Statistics." I would say that is the official count, and not reported, but didn't really happen, as Jolly Rancher was suggesting.

I just wanted to be sure...does anyone besides me think 30 rapes (statutory or not) in a town of only 25,000 or so is a lot? I'm from a small town so I'm not sure if this is high for this population or not?

as a footnote, on these 2003 numbers Hutchinson had a population of a little over 40,000 with 32 rapes.

I don't think the problem is "in the works"...I think it is here and now and only going to get worse unless something changes. Right now what is going on in our city to change this trend?

shoplifting would be included in the theft numbers......so it looks like that number's exaggerated. I shudder to think what ours will be this year....everywhere we look, the gang crap is moving in - seems like they're following the interstate. The Missouri side is as bad as the Kansas side. I thought I'd want to retire here in the metro when the time came, but I'm questioning that....I don't know where there's a safe place to do that unless it's in a retirement home.

Note that Olathe is about 115,000 people over 4 times the size of Dodge.
