| A lot of a books message is sometimes lost to the on screen translation. That's why movies are good but reading a good book is even better!

So was it better than the KC Chiefs today against the Broncos? Or another disappointment. |

| Oh, Geezus....I couldn't even watch after the first 5 minutes. I hope we either get rid of Herm and his boss or both. Both would be my pick, but knowing the great one, we'll kiss Herm goodbye and continue to play bad ball.

| OK, I think that maybe some of you read somewhere that the movie was supposed to be anti-religious, so being the good sheep, that is what you got out of it. I thought it was an epic tale along the lines of the Narnia movie, although not done as well as it (Narnia) was. It is a story of a parallel world in a parallel universe, where things are a little different than in our world/universe. In that world the soul of a person lives outside the body in the form of an animal, which they call a daemon. Pronounced like demon. But not as an evil thing. I got this definition out of the dictionary..."a guardian spirit; inspiring or inner spirit." The movie had witches and fighting "ice bears" and Gyptians who were at home on the water and something else that I can't recall the name they used for those people that were comfortable in flying machines (Sam Elliot's character was one.) There was an order, if you will, called the Majorium (or something close to that,) who wanted to stop all the "free-thinkers" from finding out the truth. If people went against their teachings then it was considered heresy. If you parallel the "church" with the majorium, then just maybe you might have a little trouble with the movie. Personally, I saw no anti-religion in the movie. Just a fantasy world where you can use your imagination and escape the everyday troubles and worries of the real world for a couple of hours. It was a movie with very good special effects and animation mixed in with the real people. The story was a little slow at times. If you liked the Chronicles of Narnia movie, you would probably enjoy this one as well, although it isn't quite as good of a story, in my opinion. My advice is don't take a fantasy movie so seriously. It's not real, it's only a movie. Keep that in mind and you won't have any "boogey-man" church police sending you to hell for seeing this movie. I would suspect the same people calling this movie anti-religious are the same ones that had a problem with the Harry Potter movies.

| By the way, I would rate this movie at 2.5 to 3 stars out of 5. For comparison, I would rate the Narnia movie at 3.5 to 4 stars out of 5.

| I don't think the problem is with the actual movie, but moreso the purchasing of books (3 part series) related to this movie by children after getting their interest. I am told that the books get more and more athiestic overtones with each level. That is what scares me. I also heard that the books talk about child sex and masturbation. (most of what I heard was from interviews on t.v.). Is this correct? If so, is this necessary?? Sorry, too much information going on with this one. I believe me and my family will just stay completely away. What say you, Bubba? Are you getting the books? Are you feeling anything evil yet?? ![]() ![]()
