Sorry, Hugz - you might be a terrific person and your parents may be wonderful, but it doesn't change the fact that it was all illegal. I, too, wish they'd change the law to say that at least one parent must be a legal citizen, not both of them squatters.

Hugs, just because this is your opinion does not make it right. Why could your parents not do it like others have done in the past, get citizenship? Why could they not do that? Breaking the laws of this country is just simply, a crime! An old saying in this country is, "two wrongs do not make a right"!
The law that make a child a citizen if the mother sneaks across the border, knowing its a crime to do so, should have been abolished decades ago. In my opinion, the child of illegals should not be rewarded with citizenship because the parents broke the laws of this country! That would be like saying a couple wants a child, so they go and kill the parents and then gets the child???? Makes about as much sense! As far as I know, right is still right, and wrong is still wrong! If a person/persons breaks the law, it is still a crime and should not be rewarded. Just as a "Stop Sign" means stop, it was never intended to be just a "suggestion", as some seem to think! Just as crossing the borders illegally is still a crime, no matter who, or how many do it! Those who do so, have broken the law and are criminals. Others have and still are coming into this country legally, why do others seem to think it is "THEY'RE" right, to not do so? Inconvenient? TOO BAD!

I don't know about my ancestory, nor my husband's. Probably, if we looked into it, I would bet that more than 1/2 of us came from illegal immigrants.

This is just an uneducated opinion, but I bet more of us are than aren't.

Just a guess. I do have info that my father's family came over on the 2nd Mayflower. I don't know if they was legal or not.

I understand your point, but that was then and this is now. Then, there wasn't the need for legislation to limit the number of immigrants into the country. Now there is. So, if people can't even follow the rules when it comes to immigration, who's to say they'd follow any other of our rules?

Most don't, sadly! Most seem to think, this also is their "right"! Thats why DC's crime rate is thru the roof! It seems, that citizens rights are slowly but surely being abolished!

Allow me to pull this soapbox out.............

Am I to assume, Hugz, that you are ok with someone coming here illegally and using your social security number then? I am sure you would have no problem explaining to the IRS why you owe thousands in back taxes because someone used your number. I assume you would have no problem spending weeks clearing up that mess when you tried to get a job. I also assume you would have no problem being arrested because somebody else was using your ID and had a warrant issued for them. These are real issues that happen to real people EVERYDAY. I know because I see it daily.
Let's say I am glad that my father decided to steal a 1964 Mustang. He took this awesome car out joy-riding and picked up his girlfriend, my mother. She thought this car was sooooo cool, plus they were teenagers, and schools were not handing out condoms then....and WHAM, happy birthday to me.

Now, let's forget that the car belonged to another person, who saved up all their money to purchase this car. They had basic insurance, so they were not re-imbursed for the car being stolen. Since they had no car, the owner lost his job because he could'nt get to work the next day. His young wife can't handle the stress and leaves him because they are completely broke and now have to try and pay the rent. He is not a stable person anyway and drinks a tad bit to much and passes out on the railroad tracks. Bad ending to a bad story.........but I am glad my dad stole that car so I could be here.


I know, WAY overdramatic.....but you see the point I hope. While I believe you and your parents are probably some of the best people on this planet and are hard working and wouldn't hurt anybody.......you can't condone bad behavior just because you think the outcome was right.
