Well when my house got broke into, they didn't bother to take fingerprints or anything like that. They just thought it would be a good idea to take pictures of the empty places that the stolen items used to occupy about 3 days after the break-in.

Handing out tickets takes little time or effort and could help with earning the city some income from a source other than our already high property and sales taxes. I don't expect them to be everywhere all the time.

Earning the city some income and helping to ensure the safety and welfare of the children that are going to school seems like a pretty noble cause to me.

What makes you think that they would pay the no insurance fine if they are to cheap to go get insurance in the first place?

Whether the driver has insurance or not in regards to the thread it doesnt make much difference if only the parent or parents had taken their child out on the crubside instead of street side. Having insurance doesnt make you a smarter or better driver. It just saves you a ticket for not having it thats all.

If you want a good view of the dangers of allowing children to exit the vehicle on the street-side, try south-bound on 6th at Northwest School before 8 in the morning. You have parents who are late and pull to the west curb and let kids out street-side - those that try to pull in front of north-bound traffic to 'steal' a parking space - none of whom give a crap about safety of their children, other's children, or excessive traffic. It's not about safety - it's about getting the kids to school on time. It's just a matter of time until a child will be hurt.

Move to the south end of Northwest (where Terry Lee had a problem) and you'll find north-bound traffic that won't stop for children in the crosswalk. I have twice watched even police cars roll through the crossing and not stop for the children waiting. It's just a matter of time and all the excuses in the world won't save the child's life.

You are so right! That's why I make sure my daughter is safe in the gym by 7:30 so we beat the stupid people traffic.

It just doesn't pay not to carry full coverage! My car has been paid for, for years now but I still carry full coverage - cause I don't want to be left out in the cold when it comes to repair. I have heard horror stories of folks with liability only that got hit by an uninsured driver and kapow - the uninsured is taken care of by thier insurance and they are left in the lurch cause they only had liability. Lots of folks consider that a waste of money but I look at it this way - at least between insurance and AAA I know at least my hooptie will get towed and I'll get a loaner. I have been very lucky so far but it sure is nice to know - if they run - I'm not left holding the bag. Course my rates would probably go up but at least I'll still have a set of wheels under me.

I agree completely! I want to know with all the people driving out there without insurance that my vehicle will be covered if in an accident. I can't afford not to have a vehicle.
