I'm a little too simplistic, I guess, but I always thought an accident was blamed on whomever was the last person who could have avoided it. So, in the instance of a child hit when being let out of a car on the street side instead of the curb side, it would be the driver's fault for being inattentive. Right? Sure, we all know the parent used bad judgement, but the last person who might have avoided the accident would be the driver who could have swerved or slammed on their brakes, but instead, was talking on the cell phone, adjusting hair or makeup in the mirror or jivin' to their tunes.

The deal is, we KNOW parents made bad judgement calls. We KNOW drivers make bad judgement calls. We can't legislate good judgement, no matter how hard we try. Our dear legislators, overpaid as they are, would be up all night every night trying to solve everybody's problems with a new law.

No matter whose fault, both the driver will feel guilty (I'm not sure I could ever drive again if I hit and injured a child), the parent will feel guilty and the child....well, the child will never be the same. So nobody will walk away unscathed.

And thats why God made "defensive driving" always expect the unexpected.


Hey KC, you were up early or were you having one of those sleepless nights like I have been having as of late.
I know how to remedy it for me tho, self medicate. Going to buy some Excedrine PM. That always puts me out.

Gotta love those hormones! Doc gave me some sleeping meds that normally put me out like a light for 7 or 8 hours. I've had a lot on my mind and I guess that counteracted the drugs. Anyway, I was asleep, then up after about 2 hours. But I slept well last night!!! Ain't it great to be a woman?

First you're so damn awkward and embarrassed. Then, you gain water weight and have cramps every stinking month. Then you get fat and (sometimes) have labor pain. Then you have the moodiness. And now - the best of all - when I could get a full night's sleep because I don't have any babies in the house to wake me.....my freakin' body betrays me and wakes me up!!!!

Well, yeah! When I woke up, I made sure hubby was awake too before I went downstairs and entertained myself on here. Funniest thing - I was awake all the next day and was on top of my game at work. I would have thought I'd have drug myself through the day.
