It's just like global warming...first make fear then make taxes. Tax a house over xxx square feet, tax certain vehicles more...tax tax tax...

| And exactly what "entity" didn't attack us on 9/11? I know..........it was mass fuggin hallucination! The towers are REALLY still there, we just are all under some freaky government mind control drug, dropped into our water supplies by the Black Ops dudes............ The way our commissioners are talking you would think everybody needs to be in damn haz-mat suits just in case they walk through second hand smoke. I personally think someone trying to drive over a cross walk gaurd is more of a health hazzard than being exposed to second hand smoke for a few minutes.......but what do I know. I wonder......if the no smoking ban is based upon health issues.......then what if I light up, oh, say, a cigarette made from Lettuce? It poses no health risk, is not illegal............can i smoke that in a public place? Or is the Tobacco Gestapho going to kick in my skull?

| OK, I've got to apologize to the city. While calling them names may make me feel better short term, I think it's counterproductive. It's frustrating to see what seems to be the majority ignored for the sake of a few influential people. I realize our leaders, while not always in the know, are doing what they see as best for Dodge City.

| No it's what they see best for....the people that they will help make $$$. If they are doing what they think is best for DC then maybe we need some new leaders with some new idea's of what is best for Dodge City.

It's all about money. Most often we see the candidate that has the most campaign funds wins the position. Anyone else see the problem with this? Essentially the position is being bought. This makes it so easy for someone with a lot of money to put an official in their pocket. I don't care who you are if someone is a major contributors to your campaign you're gonna give them special attention if elected. I think this is what we are seeing right now with things like the smoking ban. I think all elected officials should be given the exact same media for their campaign. That way the position if filled by someone right for the job, not the one with the money backers expecting special favors.

| smoking The smoking ban doesn't even fit with our image. We're DODGE CITY, for chrissakes. A smoking ordinance doesn't mesh with the image we're trying to project to rake in the tourism bucks. Besides...though I hate the smell of cigarettes, it's still a helluva lot better than the noxious packing plant odors that waft by now and then! Give me a cigar or a good pipe to cover that up any day! |
