"(AP) Judge Strikes Louisville Smoking Ban"

By BRETT BARROUQUERE
Associated Press Writer
LOUISVILLE, Ky.

As Churchill Downs goes, so goes Louisville, according to a circuit judge who struck down a citywide smoking ban citing an exemption for the famed horse track.
A Jefferson Circuit Judge ruled that because an exemption in the smoking ban crafted for Churchill Downs was unconstitutional, the entire law was illegal.
"Only after voting that Churchill Downs would keep its exemption did the Council pass the Smoke Free Law; the converse of this fact is that the Council would not have passed a Smoke Free Law devoid of said exemption," Judge Steven Ryan wrote.

Smoking Ban in All Public Places

I found a smoke free environment for the non-smokers to enjoy.

Quote:
TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- As of Saturday, Iran will implement a strict smoking ban in all public places. According to the new law, smoking is prohibited in all public organizations, hotels, restaurants, tea houses and coffee shops.

Police has been ordered to decisively confront all restaurant owners nationwide with a warning first, then temporary closing and, in case of repetition, permanent closing of their enterprise.

Also forbidden is the offering and smoking of the traditional Persian water-pipe which is a must in Iranian tea houses.

A smoking ban for all car drivers nationwide was implemented since last March.

Also selling tobacco products to anyone under 18 would result in confiscation of the vendor's tobacco products and a cash fine up to 65 dollars. Repeated violations would lead to cash fines amounting to 1,400 dollars.

There are no official statistics on the number of smokers in Iran but it is said that 60,000 Iranians die directly or indirectly due to smoking every year.

Ooh. A ban on car smokers? Yeouch! Can you just imagine somebody havin' a nicotine fit during rush hour? OK, youse guys don't have much of a rush hour, but holy bejeezus! That would just give a whole new meaning to the words 'rush hour'. Yeah, I'd rather let those suckers smoke in their cars and keep 'em quiet and happy.

up in smoke?

For all of you complaining about a possible smoking ban in Dodge City.......it could be worse. In Colorado, no public building allows smoking...it's a state law......and they are getting ready to pass a law for no smoking in Casinos.

Unfortunately, that one won't work Bubba. The Butler facility is inside the City (by annexation), and the second one will probably request annexation because of utility services. Both casino's will be affected, as of now.
